William Clarkson (22 September 1891 – 11 December 1954) was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward in the Football League for Rotherham County, Luton Town, Southport and Burnley. [1] [2] [3] [4]

During the 1932–33 English football season, Brentford competed in the Football League Third Division South and won the division title to secure promotion to the second tier of English football for the first time in the club's history. Jack Holliday set a new club goalscoring record of 39 goals in a season, which as of 2022 has yet to be broken. It is statistically Brentford's second-best season, after 1929–30.

During the 1951–52 English football season, Brentford competed in the Football League Second Division. The Bees secured a third-consecutive top 10 finish and reached the fourth round of the FA Cup, taking Luton Town to two replays before being knocked out.

During the 1958–59 English football season, Brentford competed in the Football League Third Division. Despite 32 goals from Jim Towers and 22 from George Francis, a number of defeats to low-placed clubs early in the season prevented the Bees from finishing higher than 3rd, one place away from promotion.
