William Werner Mwaningange (born 25 November 1945) is a Namibian politician who has served in the Cabinet of Namibia as Deputy Minister of Defence since 2015. A member of SWAPO,Mwaningange was elected to the National Assembly of Namibia in the 2009 general election. He previously served as Governor of Ohangwena Region and since 2008 he has been a member of the SWAPO Central Committee. [1] [2]
He was born in Eembidi,Ovamboland,which was also the birthplace of fellow SWAPO politician Erkki Nghimtina. He earned the nickname Comrade Billy during the Namibian War of Independence from occupying South Africa. [3]
On Heroes' Day 2014 he was conferred the Excellent Order of the Eagle,third Class. [4]
Theo-Ben Gurirab was a Namibian politician who served in various senior government positions. He served as the second Prime Minister of Namibia from 28 August 2002 to 20 March 2005,following the demotion and subsequent resignation of Hage Geingob. Previously he was the country's first Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 2002,and was President of the United Nations General Assembly from 1999 to 2000. He was Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia from 2005 to 2015,when he was replaced by Peter Katjavivi. Gurirab ultimately resigned from politics in 2015.

Hidipo Livius Hamutenya was a Namibian politician. A long time leading member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),Hamutenya was a member of the Cabinet of Namibia from independence in 1990 to 2004,serving in several important ministerial portfolios. He was defeated in a bid for the party's presidential nomination in 2004 and left SWAPO to form an opposition group,the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP),in 2007. He was elected to the National Assembly of Namibia with RDP in the 2009 general election. He was forced to step down as RDP president on 28 February 2015 and rejoined SWAPO on 28 August 2015.
Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba is a Namibian politician who served as the second president of Namibia from 21 March 2005 to 21 March 2015. He won the 2004 presidential election overwhelmingly as the candidate of SWAPO,and was reelected in 2009. Pohamba was the president of SWAPO from 2007 until his retirement in 2015. He is a recipient of the Ibrahim Prize.
Nahas Gideon Angula is a Namibian politician who served as the third Prime Minister of Namibia from 21 March 2005 to 4 December 2012. He was succeeded by Hage Geingob in a cabinet reshuffle after the 2012 SWAPO Party congress. He subsequently served as Minister of Defence from 2012 to 2015.
Marco Mukoso Hausiku was a Namibian politician who was deputy Prime Minister of Namibia from 2010 to 2015.
General elections were held in Namibia on 27–28 November 2009. They were the fourth general elections since independence and the fifth democratic elections. Voting ended on 28 November and official election results,released on 4 December,showed that Hifikepunye Pohamba and his SWAPO Party were re-elected,each with over 75% of the vote. Prior to the election,the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) was widely expected to score a landslide victory,with the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) considered SWAPO's biggest challenger. Fourteen political parties competed for seats in the National Assembly of Namibia,and twelve candidates ran for the presidency.

Joel Natangwe Kaapanda is a Namibian politician. A member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),Kaapanda was a member of the National Assembly of Namibia from November 2002 to March 2020. He served in cabinet as Minister of Regional and Local Government,Housing and Rural Development from 2002 to 2005,as Minister of Public Works,Transport and Communication from 2005 to 2008,and as Minister of Information and Communication Technology from 2008 to March 2015. Previously he was Namibia's first High Commissioner to India from 1995 to 2002.
Lempy Lucas,also:Lukas,is a Namibian politician. A member of the National Assembly from 2000 until 2015,Lucas is a member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO). She has held a number of deputy minister positions in Namibia's government between 2004 and 2015. She also was a SWAPO Party Youth League activist.
Pashukeni Shoombe is a Namibian politician and educator. Shoombe was a teacher in Ohangwena Region,Ovamboland from 1958 to 1974,when she went into exile with the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO). While in exile,Shoombe played a prominent role in the handling of her fellow exiles in Angola,for which she received a UNESCO Literacy Award in 1991. In 1980,she earned a diploma from the United Nations Institute for Namibia in Zambia. In 1989,she was elected to the Constituent Assembly of Namibia,which wrote the Namibian Constitution. She was subsequently also elected to the 2nd National Assembly.
Abraham Iyambo was a Namibian politician. Iyambo was a member of the National Assembly of Namibia since 1995,serving as Minister of the Fisheries from 1997 to 2010 and as Minister of Education from 2010 until his death. Iyambo was a member of both the central committee and political bureau of the SWAPO Party and the chairperson of its think tank.
Pohamba Penomwenyo Shifeta is a Namibian politician. He is Namibia's Minister of Environment and Tourism since his appointment by president Hage Geingob in March 2015.

Elia George Kaiyamo is a Namibian politician. A member of SWAPO,Kaiyamo was an internal organizer and teacher for SWAPO prior to independence. He served in the Cabinet of Namibia as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration from 2010 to 2015. On 2 September 2016,President Hage Geingob appointed Kaiyamo as Ambassador-designate to the People's Republic of China.
Oshikango is a constituency in the town of Helao Nafidi in the Ohangwena Region of northern Namibia,on the border to Angola. It had 27,599 inhabitants in 2004 and 17,480 registered voters in 2020. It is named after the settlement of Oshikango,today part of the town Helao Nafidi.
