Billy Suede is a professional wrestler based out of Western Canada. He is best known for working for NWA: Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling, but has competed for independent promotions in Canada and the United States, as well as in the Philippines.

Professional wrestling career

PowerZone Wrestling

Suede made his professional debut on February 24, 2007 with PZW, losing to JR Trinidad in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He appeared on a few more shows before returning to BC. [2]

Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling

Billy Suede debuted for NWA: Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling on April 21, 2007 in Port Coquitlam in a loss to Kyle O'Reilly. A few weeks later, Suede teamed with O'Reilly to defeat Bryan Danielson and Sid Sylum for his first victory in wrestling. [3] A month after winning the Pacific Cup, on July 5, 2008 Suede won the NWA Canadian Junior Heavyweight Championship from O'Reilly. [3] On October 3, 2009, Suede defeated Memphis to win the NWA/ECCW Heavyweight Championship for the first time. [4]

Even as a champion already, Suede teamed with Kenny Lush in a tournament to decide new ECCW Tag Team Champions. The tournament stretched out over multiple shows, with Suede and Lush beating Egos & Icons to win the ECCW Tag Team Championship on November 7 in Vancouver. [3]

Pacific Cup

Having made an impact in the tournament since his rookie year, Suede made it to the semi-finals of the 2007 Pacific Cup before losing to Tony Kozina. However, Billy would not be denied and won the tournament in 2008, beating CJ Strongheart and Danni Deeds before winning the three-way final against El Phantasmo and Kyle O'Reilly. [5] 2009 saw Suede lose to Rick the Weapon X in the second round, continuing his streak of winning at least the first round match in every year he has participated in the tournament. The streak continued in 2010, as Billy lost in the second round to O'Reilly. [6]

Philippine Wrestling Revolution

On February 26, 2017, Suede moved to the Philippines and competed in the Philippine Wrestling Revolution. [7] He debuted against Chilly Willy who wrestled under the name Blackzilla. [7] In July 2017, he defeated defending champion Chris Panzer to win the PWR Championship. [8] Suede however lost the title back to Panzer during a triple threat match involving Ralph Imbayashi at PWR: Sugod. [9] Suede then faced fellow Canadian Zayden Trudeau at Oktoberplex in a match which he dubbed the All-Canadian Classic. The two wrestled an intense match, exchanging enzuigiris and submissions to send the crowd into a frenzy but Trudeau came up victorious in the end. [10] In September 22, 2019, Suede returned in PWR Live: Beautiful (named after his moniker) and faced Mike Madrigal in a winning effort. [11]

Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW) (formerly known as NWA: Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling and Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling) is a Western Canada-based professional wrestling promotion and a former member of the National Wrestling Alliance. By 2014 it was Canada's largest wrestling promotion. It was the focus of the 2010 documentary This Wrestling Life, and was used as the scene for the independent movie Kayfabe.

ECCW Pacific Cup is an annual professional wrestling tournament held by the Canadian promotion Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW). The first edition of the tournament took place on November 24, 2000 in New Westminster, with Asian Cougar defeating Havoc and Tony Kozina in the final. After a hiatus in 2001, the event was moved closer to the start of the year in 2002, and the location alternated between Surrey and Vancouver in later years. After years of doing the singles version of the ECCW Pacific Cup, ECCW held a tag team version in 2004.

The NWA/ECCW Tag Team Championship is the tag team title for the Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling wrestling promotion based out of British Columbia. It was activated in 1996. The first champions were the Glamour Order Of Discipline. There have been 74 reigns by 34 teams and 55 wrestlers with three vacancies. One of the vacancies came when the titles were vacated by NWA Pacific Northwest representative Mike Sweetster after ruling that the 24 July 2009 match was not an official contest and was thus null and void. The titles are currently being held by Bishy Wishy who are in their first reign. On 19 April 2013, ECCW unveiled new belts for the Elite Tag Team Championships. Then champions Scotty Mac and Jamie Diaz relinquished the old NWA/ECCW Tag Team Championships to their stable mates The Greedfather and Red Dinero to have, who later deemed them the "ECCW Classic Tag Team Championships".

Aaron Idol is a Canadian professional wrestler who is best known for his work in Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling, where he rose to become the ECCW Heavyweight Champion.

Tony Kozina is an American professional wrestler who is best known for his work in the Pacific Northwest especially in Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling and National Wrestling Alliance. He has also made appearances in Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Full Impact Pro, IWA-Mid South, World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
