Khem Raj Bhatta Mayalu is a Nepalese politician. He is a member of the Nepali Congress (NC) party, the successor party to Nepali Congress (Democratic) [NC(D)] of which he had also been a member while it existed. During the panchayat regime he was the general secretary of the underground leftist group Nepal Janabadi Morcha (NJM), living in exile in Lucknow, India. After the 1985 Nepal bombings, which NJM had claimed responsibility for, Mayalu received a life sentence in absentia.
Constituent Assembly elections were held in Nepal on 10 April 2008, having been postponed from earlier dates of 7 June 2007 and 22 November 2007. The Constituent Assembly was planned to draft a new constitution and therefore decide, amongst other things, on the issue of federalism. The number of eligible voters was around 17.5 million. The Constituent Assembly was originally set to have a term of two years.
Salim Miya Ansari is a Nepalese politician. In the 1994 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Communist Party of Nepal from the Bara-4 constituency. Ansari won with 20148 votes against 16145 votes for Pharmulaha Mansur of the Nepali Congress. Ansari served as Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation in the CPN(UML) government formed in 1994. When the CPN(UML) was divided in 1998, Ansari joined the Communist Party of Nepal (ML), and later became Minister of Tourism in the coalition government. When CPN(ML) and CPN(UML) reunited, Ansari again became a CPN(UML) leader.

Rabindra Prasad Adhikari was a Nepali politician and three time parliamentarian, belonging to the Nepal Communist Party (NCP). He was Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from 16 March 2018 until his death in a helicopter crash. He was the Kaski District secretary of the party. In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election, Adhikari was elected from the Kaski-3 constituency, with 13,386 votes. In the 2013 Constituent Assembly election, he was re-elected from the Kaski-3 constituency, with 15,456 votes. In 2017, CPN-UML candidate Rabindra Adhikari won parliamentary elections from Kaski Constituency No. 2. Representing the left alliance, Adhikari secured 27,207 votes to defeat Nepali Congress candidate Dev Raj Chalise, who got 18,661 votes. After his demise, his wife Bidya Bhattarai won Kaski Constituency-2 with a wide margin of 8,403 votes in the by-election. Bhattarai secured 24,394 votes while her nearest contender Khem Raj Poudel from main opposition Nepali Congress got 15,991. Likewise, Socialist Party's Dharma Raj Gurung got 1,922 votes. He authored the books Constituent Assembly, Democracy and Re-structuring.
Ram Baran Yadav is a Nepali politician and physician who served as the first president of Nepal from 23 July 2008 to 29 October 2015, following the declaration of a republic in 2008. Previously he served as Minister of Health from 1999 to 2001 and general secretary of the Nepali Congress.

General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The election was held alongside the first provincial elections for the seven provincial assemblies. A political deadlock between the governing Nepali Congress and the winning left-wing coalition over the system used to elect the upper house led to delay in forming the new government. Following the announcement of final result by the Election Commission, K.P. Oli of Communist Party of Nepal was sworn in as Prime Minister on 15 February 2018 by the President according to Article 76 (2) of the constitution. He passed a Motion of Confidence on 11 March 2018 with 208 votes.
Polden Chhopang Gurung is a Nepali politician, and a member of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Manang constituency as a candidate for the Communist Party of Nepal, defeating his closest rival, Tek Bahadur Gurung of Nepali Congress, by 2,300 votes to 2,021. He is an apple farmer by profession. CPN UML's district chairperson for Manang, Gurung became the party's candidate after Dipak Manange, whom the party was supporting, withdrew his candidacy. Gurung won in the constituency with a previously very weak presence of CPN UML; the party's candidate had received 70 votes in the previous election.
General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election; one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP, and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.
Prakash Jwala is a Nepali politician who served in the House of Representatives from 1999 until 2008 and in the Karnali Provincial Assembly from 2018 until his expulsion in April 2021, representing the Salyan 1 constituency as a member of the Communist Party of Nepal. After his expulsion, Jwala joined the newly-formed Communist Party of Nepal, and is running as one of its candidates for the House of Representatives in the 2022 Nepalese general election.
