Blood Meridian was a Canadian alternative country band based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band consisted of singer and songwriter Matt Camirand, guitarist Jeff Lee, keyboardist Shira Blustein, bassist Kevin Grant and drummer Joshua Wells. Camirand had been with The Black Halos, He and Wells were also members of Black Mountain and Pink Mountaintops; Wells was a member of Lightning Dust as well. Recorded with Gus van Go serving as producer, the album was initially released on October 18, 2005, by Indica Records in Canada and on later dates in other regions. Its lyrics discuss typical rock n' roll themes such as love, violence and death, and its unusual sound for a hard rock record of the time is the result of van Go trying to emulate the sounds of classic rock and metal albums.
Bullmoose was a Canadian rock band formed in Elgin, Ontario in 1996. Its members were twin brothers Jeff Cowan (drums/vocals) and Seamus Cowan (bass/vocals) from Westport, Ontario, and Eric Lawrance (guitar/vocals) from Delta, Ontario, who launched the band when they attended school in Montreal. Fuck the Facts is a Canadian Juno-nominated, grindcore band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, formed in 1998. They began as the solo recording project of musician Topon Das. Their earliest recording was in January 1997; they began using the name Fuck the Facts in 1998. After many early recordings, including split tapes with groups from around the world, Fuck the Facts began developing a name in the underground with fans of grind. In 2001, the first full-length CD-R, Discoing the Dead, was recorded. The same year, Das would assemble a full band to continue with the project. The band has since coined the terms "bastardized grindcore" and "mullet-core" to describe their sound.
The Brat Attack was a Canadian political punk rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2007, their biography (edited) was: "We are a political punk band that believes that we can contribute to creating social change and fighting injustice in singing about various issues that concern us, making the message the focal point, and expose people to our concerns and shit that makes us pissed off and frustrated...We are young and stupid, but believe that we should take this opportunity of singing in front of people to focus on important shit rather than the ho-hum drivel about relationships."
