Bishan Sports Hall is situated in the central part of Singapore at Bishan. Bishan Sports Hall is part of the Bishan Sports Recreation Centre, which includes Bishan Stadium and Bishan Sports Complex. [1]

History

Bishan Sports Hall has been the de facto venue for the Singapore Open Gymnastics Championships since 2004. The Pesta Sukan Gymnastics Championship and ASEAN Schools Artistic and Rhythmic Championships were also held here in 2003 and 2004 respectively. [1]

Bishan Sports Hall is the training venue for Singapore's national gymnastics team. Schools, clubs and gymnastics coaches also use the hall for various youth development and training programmes. [1]

Bishan, also known as either Bishan New Town or Bishan Town, is a planning area and matured residential town located at the northernmost portion of the Central Region of Singapore. Bishan Stadium

Bishan Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bishan, Singapore, with a capacity of 6,254 people. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Lion City Sailors FC and Balestier Khalsa FC in the Singapore Premier League. The stadium was constructed in 1998 and is managed by the Sport Singapore. The public can use the facilities from 4:30 am to 8:30 pm daily unless it is exclusively booked for a sporting event. An indoor sports hall with facilities for badminton, table tennis and gymnastics lies adjacent to the stadium.

2010 Summer Youth Olympics

The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, officially known as the I Summer Youth Olympic Games, was the inaugural edition of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), an international multi-sport and cultural event for youths based on the tradition of the Olympic Games. Held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010, it was the first International Olympic Committee–sanctioned event held in Singapore. The Games featured about 3,600 athletes aged 14–18 from 204 nations, who competed in 201 events in 26 sports. No official medal tables were published, but the most successful nation was China, followed by Russia. Most unique features of the YOG, such as mixed-NOCs teams and the Culture and Education Programme (CEP), made their debut at the 2010 Games.

Venues of the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics

The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics were held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010. A total of 3,600 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in 201 events in 26 sports. Events took place at eighteen competition venues, of which eleven were pre-existing venues, one was newly constructed for the Olympics, and six were temporary venues that would be removed following the Games. Another twelve venues were set aside for training purposes. The Youth Olympic Village was a separate non-competitive venue that provided accommodation and activities for the athletes.

Sam Oldham British artistic gymnast

Sam Joshua Oldham is an English artistic gymnast who represents Great Britain. He was part of the British men's team at the 2012 Summer Olympics that won bronze in the team competition. He is also a three-time junior European champion and won individual horizontal bar gold at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore.

Ksenia Dzhalaganiya is a Russian group rhythmic gymnast, who is now the founder and director of Dubai Youth Olympic school of rhythmic gymnastics in the United Arab Emirates.
