Bizim Kand

Bizim Kand (our village) is a TV series in Azerbaijani languages produced and broadcast by Sahand TV in Tabriz, Iran. At each episode the presenter, Moharam Mohammadzadeh, goes to one of the villages in Iranian Azerbaijan region and present the daily life and the problems that the villagers are facing with. [1] The TV show got more attention after its special emotional episode for East Azerbaijan earthquake on 2012. [2]

The 2012 East Azerbaijan earthquakes – also known as the Ahar earthquakes – occurred on 11 August 2012, at 16:53 Iran Standard Time, near the cities of Ahar and Varzaqan in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, approximately 60 kilometers from Tabriz. They comprised a doublet separated by eleven minutes, with magnitudes of 6.4 and 6.2 Mww. At least 306 people died and more than 3,000 others were injured, primarily in the rural and mountainous areas to the northeast of Tabriz. The shocks were felt in Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, though no major damage was reported.

The former Consulate-General of the United States, Tabriz was a diplomatic and political venue in Tabriz that operated under the auspices of the US Embassy in Tehran. This consulate was opened in 1906 and was active until the capture of the US Embassy in Tehran and the severance of Iran-US relations.
