Black Jack Creek

Black Jack Creek is a stream in Crawford County in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] It is a tributary of Cherry Valley Creek. [2]

The headwaters arise just east of Missouri Route 19 about four miles southeast of Steelville at an elevation of near 1000 feet (at 37°53′58″N91°18′34″W / 37.89944°N 91.30944°W / 37.89944; -91.30944 ) [1] ). [2] The stream flows about two miles east to its confluence with Cherry Valley Creek at an elevation of 850 feet (at 37°54′07″N91°15′48″W / 37.90194°N 91.26333°W / 37.90194; -91.26333 [1] ). [2]

Black Jack Creek most likely was named for the blackjack oak along its course. [3]

The Bourbeuse River is a river located in east-central Missouri, in the Ozarks region, and is one of two major tributaries of the Meramec River, the other being the Big River. The Bourbeuse flows to the northeast from its source near the locale of Dillon just northeast of Rolla in Phelps County, through Maries, Gasconade, Crawford, and Franklin counties, where it discharges into the Meramec River near Moselle. The elevation of the river at its source is approximately 1,140 feet (350 m) above sea level and at its mouth about 463 feet (141 m). The total length of the river is 154 miles (248 km), while the airline distance between source and mouth is 53 miles (85 km). The watershed area is 842.9 square miles (2,183 km2).

Cherryville is an unincorporated community in southeastern Crawford County, Missouri, United States. It is located on Route 19, approximately ten miles south of Steelville, at the northern terminus of Route 49. It is near the Mark Twain National Forest.
