Blackest Hair, Bluest Eyes, released 2004, is the first commercial release by musician Chris Staples, previously of Twothirtyeight. Staples previously independently recorded the acoustic albums Panama, and Burned and Blistered, which this album draws many of the tracks from.

Stabbing Westward is an American industrial rock band. Christopher Hall and Walter Flakus formed the band in 1985 in Macomb, Illinois. The band released an extended play in 1992, followed by four studio albums: Ungod (1994), Wither Blister Burn & Peel (1996), Darkest Days (1998), and Stabbing Westward (2001). The band announced a dissolution on February 9, 2002. Two compilation albums were later released in 2003. Stabbing Westward reunited in 2016 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its formation and continued to perform live shows. The band's first new album in 21 years, Chasing Ghosts, was released in 2022.
A blister is a small pocket of body fluid within the upper layers of the skin, usually caused by forceful rubbing (friction), burning, freezing, chemical exposure or infection. John Marty Stuart is an American country and bluegrass music singer, songwriter, and musician. Active since 1968, Stuart initially toured with Lester Flatt, and then in Johnny Cash's road band before beginning work as a solo artist in the early 1980s. His greatest commercial success came in the first half of the 1990s on MCA Records Nashville. Stuart has recorded over 20 studio albums, and has charted over 30 times on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His highest chart entry is "The Whiskey Ain't Workin'", a duet with Travis Tritt. Stuart has also won five Grammy Awards out of 16 nominations. He is known for his combination of rockabilly, country rock, and bluegrass music influences, his frequent collaborations and cover songs, and his distinctive stage dress. Stuart is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame.
Anna Christine Nalick is an American singer-songwriter. Her debut album, Wreck of the Day, featuring her first radio hit, "Breathe ", was released on April 19, 2005. Nalick left her label under Sony in 2009 after a falling-out surrounding the release of her second album. Nalick's second album, Broken Doll & Odds & Ends, was released on June 5, 2011. On October 19, 2017, Nalick released her third full-length album, At Now. Nalick's fourth album, The Blackest Crow, was released December 6, 2019.
The Bluest Eye, published in 1970, is the first novel written by Toni Morrison. The novel takes place in Lorain, Ohio, and tells the story of a young African-American girl named Pecola who grew up following the Great Depression. Set in 1941, the story is about how she is consistently regarded as "ugly" due to her mannerisms and dark skin. As a result, she develops an inferiority complex, which fuels her desire for the blue eyes she equates with "whiteness".
Chris Staples is an American indie rock musician originally from Pensacola, Florida, long based in Seattle, Washington. He released Panama, Burned and Blistered, Blackest Hair, Bluest Eyes, Badlands, and American Soft independently, before catching the attention of Seattle-based Barsuk Records, who re-released American Soft in 2014. Staples' second album on Barsuk, Golden Age, was released in 2016. His next album, Holy Moly, was released by Barsuk on June 28, 2019.

"Close My Eyes Forever" is a duet by Lita Ford with Ozzy Osbourne from Ford's 1988 album Lita. It was later remixed and released as a single titled "Close My Eyes Forever (Remix)" in 1989, with the single only differing from the album version in sound quality editing. The song was written by Ford and Osbourne as the result of an accident in the studio, during which they both drank heavily and inadvertently wrote the lyrics to the song together. This song is Ford's highest charting single, peaking at number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1989 and also peaked at number 25 on the U.S. Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. It is also Osbourne's highest charting single of his solo career. "Close My Eyes Forever" was one of four singles from the album Lita.
Restless Heart is an American country music band founded in 1984 by John Dittrich, Paul Gregg, Dave Innis, Greg Jennings, and Larry Stewart. Active from 1984 to 1994, in 1998, and from 2002 onward, the band has released eight studio albums, seven compilation albums, and two live albums. Its second through fifth studio albums — Wheels, Big Dreams in a Small Town, Fast Movin' Train, and Big Iron Horses — have all been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Deep Blue Sea is the soundtrack to the 1999 science fiction thriller film Deep Blue Sea. It was released on June 27, 1999 through Warner Bros. Records and consisted of hip hop and R&B music. The soundtrack didn't find much success, only making it to #55 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The lone single was LL Cool J's non-charting "Deepest Bluest".

Vincent Jamal Staples is an American rapper and singer. He is a member of the hip hop trio Cutthroat Boyz alongside fellow California rappers Aston Matthews and Joey Fatts. Staples was once a close associate of Odd Future, Mike G and Earl Sweatshirt in particular. He is currently signed to Motown and Talib Kweli's Blacksmith Records.
Don't Smile at Me is the debut extended play by American singer Billie Eilish. Darkroom and Interscope Records released it on August 11, 2017. Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell wrote most of the material on the EP and were solely responsible for its production. It is an electropop and bedroom pop record with elements of R&B and jazz.
