Yaw Sintim-Misa, professionally known as Blackway is a Ghanaian-American rapper. He is most known for the single "What's Up Danger" which was released as a soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse through a collaboration with Black Caviar. [1]

Early life

Blackway is the son of Ghanaian comedian and talk show host, Kwaku Sintim-Misa. [2] He was born in Ghana and lived there until 2006 when he moved from Ghana to stay with his mother in Long Island, New York. [3]

Career

Blackway had a long history of music in Ghana. In 2014, he was featured on "Raise My Flag", the first single of DJ Juls' debut EP. [4] He was also featured on the single "Pretty Please" from Kojo Cue's debut album, "The Shinning". [5] In 2015, Blackway was featured on "The Best Shape", which was track 15 on EL's Bar 2 Mixtape. [6] [7] When M.anifest released his album, APAE (The Price of Free) in 2016, he featured Blackway on the 7th single "Never Feel". [8]

It wasn't until 2019 that his biggest breakthrough came when he collaborated with American DJs Black Caviar to release "What's Up Danger" as a soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. [9] It was nominated at the Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media category at the 62nd Grammy Awards. [10] Blackway signed a global record and co-publishing deal with Position/Hive Music in 2022 [11] He released two songs that featured as soundtracks for NFL Madden 24. [12] [13] He was featured by Shaquille O'Neal on his 2023 single, "King Talk" [14] Also in 2023, he was featured on "The Return of Mansa Musa" on the tenth track of Busta Rhymes' "Blockbusta" album alongside Swiss Beatz. The song was co-produced by Epitome and contains additional vocals by Fabulouz Fabz, who was Rhymes' road manager at the time.

Kwaku Sintim-Misa aka "KSM" is a Ghanaian actor, director, satirist, talk show host, and author. He also has his shows on radio and television. He is the host of The KSM Show.

"Victory" is a song by American rapper and producer Sean Combs, under his then stage name "Puff Daddy". The song features vocals from rappers such as the late Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes. It features heavy use of mafioso-style lyrics, as was popular at the time. The song also heavily sampled the Bill Conti song "Going the Distance", which featured on the soundtrack to the movie Rocky making it a darker start to a rap album that featured many club-standard singles. It also featured the last verses recorded by The Notorious B.I.G. before his 1997 death, as these verses were recorded a day before his shooting. Released as the fifth and final single from No Way Out in March 1998, it peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and was certified gold by the RIAA later that year.

"We Made It" is a single by rapper Busta Rhymes featuring American rock band Linkin Park. The song was to be on Busta Rhymes's eighth studio album, Back on My B.S., but was then cancelled off the track list because the album was released on a different label as "We Made It" was Busta Rhymes's last song on Interscope. The song was produced by Cool & Dre, with additional production by Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson. The song was released on April 29, 2008. It was Busta Rhymes's final release on Aftermath Entertainment.

He is currently signed to BBnZ Live and is affiliated to The Cue, a talent development group which he formed with producer Peewezel. In 2014, he dropped his mixtape "The Shining" to incredible reviews from critics. The mixtape went on to be downloaded more than 12000 times and trended on social media for two weeks. The soundtrack for the 2018 American animated superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, based on the Miles Morales incarnation of the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and produced by Sony Pictures Animation, consists of a soundtrack featuring original songs written for and inspired by the film and an original score composed by Daniel Pemberton. The soundtrack was released under the title Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse under the Republic Records label on December 14, 2018, while Pemberton's score was released as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse under the Sony Classical label three days later.

"Essence" is a song by Nigerian singer Wizkid, featuring fellow Nigerian singer Tems. It was released on 30 October 2020, as the fourth single from Wizkid's fourth studio album, Made in Lagos. "Essence" was produced by P2J and Legendury Beatz. The "sensual" song sees the duo express their desire for each other. A music video was released on 9 April 2021, shot in Accra, Ghana. "Essence" is the first Nigerian song in history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200. The song received a nomination at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Performance.

Black Caviar is an American DJ duo from New York City, consisting of Troy Hinson and Jared Piccone. Black Caviar produced "What’s Up Danger", which was featured on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.

Beau Young, popularly known as Beau Young Prince, is an American rapper from Washington D.C, signed to Def Jam Recordings. He burst on the national scene in 2018 with a hit single "Kill Moe", and received a Grammy nomination for his song "Let Go", which was featured on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack and went multi-Platinum. In addition, he wrote and sung the song "Move the Chains" for the Madden 21 soundtrack.
