Blaise Kouassi (born 1 September 1983) is an Ivorian footballer who plays for Dhofar S.C.S.C. in Oman Professional League. [1]
Born and raised in Kondiebouman, Ivory Coast, Blaise began his footballing career in 2002 with Abidjan-based club, Stella Club d'Adjamé.
He began his professional footballing career in 2003 with Ligue 1 club, Africa Sports d'Abidjan.
He first moved out of Ivory Coast in 2004 to Tunisia where he signed a long-term contract with Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 club, CS Sfaxien. In his five-year spell with the Sfax-based club, he helped them win the 2004–05 Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1, the 2008-09 Tunisian Cup, the CAF Confederation Cup in 2007 and 2008 and the 2009 North African Cup Winners Cup. He also helped them achieve the runners-up position in the 2004-05 Arab Champions League, the 2006 CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup in 2008 and 2009. [2]
In 2009, he again moved out of Ivory Coast and this time to the Middle East and more accurately to the United Arab Emirates where he signed a three-year contract with UAE First Division League club, Al-Shaab CSC. He made his debut and scored his first goal for the club on 28 August 2009 in a 2009–10 UAE President's Cup match in a 6-0 win over Al-Jazira Al-Hamra FC. [3] In the tournament, he put up an eye-catching performance for the club which included a hat trick on 24 September 2009 in a 5-0 win over Al-Jazira Al-Hamra FC, [4] and a brace each on 3 September 2009 in a 4-0 win over Dibba Al-Hisn Sports Club [5] and on 8 October 2009 in a 6-1 win over Masafi Club. [6] He made his Etisalat Emirates Cup qualification debut and scored his first goal in the competition on 16 October 2009 in a 2-2 draw against Al-Ittihad Kalba SC. [7] In the qualification process, he put up a great show as he scored 8 goals in 9 appearances which included a brace against Al-Ittihad Kalba SC. He made his UAE First Division League debut on 6 February 2010 in a 2-0 win over Al-Urooba [8] and scored his first goal in the very next game on 13 February 2010 in a 1-0 win over Dubai CSC. [9] He scored 9 goals in 7 appearances in the 2009–10 UAE President's Cup and helped his club reach the Round of 16 of the competition. He also scored 8 goals in 9 appearances in qualification to the 2009–10 Etisalat Emirates Cup. He also scored 7 goals in 13 appearances in the 2009-10 UAE First Division League, finishing as the top scorer of the season for the club and the 9th top scorer overall in the 2009-10 UAE First Division League.
In his second consecutive season with the club, he made his first appearance and scored his first goal for the club on 26 August 2010 in a 2010–11 Etisalat Emirates Cup qualification match in a 1-0 win over Al-Arabi. [10] He also made an appearance in the 2010–11 UAE President's Cup in the Round of 32 on 21 September 2010 in a 1-0 loss against Al-Shabab. [11] He made his first appearance and scored his first goal in the 2010-11 UAE First Division League on 9 December 2012 in a 3-1 win over Dibba Al-Fujairah. [12] He scored 8 goals in 17 appearances in the 2010-11 UAE First Division League. He also scored 5 goals in 8 appearances in qualification to the 2010–11 Etisalat Emirates Cup.
In his third consecutive season with the club, he made his first appearance on 6 October 2011 in a 2011–12 Etisalat Emirates Cup qualification match in a 1-2 loss against Al-Khaleej Club [13] and scored his first goal in the same competition on 10 November 2011 in a 3-0 win over Dibba Al-Fujairah. [14] He made his 2011-12 UAE First Division League debut on 24 November 2011 in a 1-1 draw against Masafi Club [15] and scored his first goal on 5 December 2011 in a 3-2 loss against Dibba Al-Fujairah. [16] He scored 10 goals in 20 appearances in the 2011-12 UAE First Division League. He also scored 1 goal in 3 appearances in qualification to the 2011–12 Etisalat Emirates Cup, thus ending his long-term stay with the Sharjah-based club.
In 2012, he once again moved out to Tunisia where he signed a one-year contract with another Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 club, Stade Tunisien.
In 2013, he again moved out of Ivory Coast and this time to Guinea where he signed a one-year contract with Guinée Championnat National club, Horoya AC. [17] [18] In his one-year spell with the Conakry-based club, he helped them win the 2014 Guinée Coupe Nationale.
On 27 January 2015, he signed a six-month contract with Oman Professional League club, Dhofar S.C.S.C. [19] He scored his first goal for the club on 6 March 2015 in a 2-0 win over 2013–14 Oman Professional League runners-up, Fanja SC. [20]

Ajman and Dubai both got promoted on 22 April 2017 after beating Fujairah 3–2 and Ras Al Khaimah 2–0. On 3 May 2017, Baniyas were the first team to get relegated after drawing 4–4 against Emirates. Kalba were the last team to get relegated after losing to Al-Ain 2–1 and both Emirates and Dibba Al-Fujairah didn't lose in the same week. In July 2017 Al Ahli, Al Shabab and Dubai merged to make Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai. In 20 April 2018 Hatta lost to Al Wasl 2–0 and were the first team to get relegated. On 21 April Al Ain were crowned the champions of the league for the 13th time after destroying Al Nasr 4–0. On the final day Emirates were relegated after drawing against Al Nasr 2–2 and Al Nasr. In May 2018 it turns out that since the League needs 14 teams for next year it is decided that the bottom two teams of this year will have to face 3rd and 4th placed team of the 2nd division to see who will secure a spot next year.

The 2018-19, UAE Pro League was the 45th edition with Al Ain being the defending champions after winning their 13th title. Both Baniyas and Kalba returned to the pro league after getting relegated back at 2017. After losing Al Shabab and Dubai last season the league has been reduced to 12 teams. Both the teams needed to get back to 14 teams so they held a relegation play off between bottom two teams of last year and the 3rd and 4th placed teams of the 2nd division. Sharjah set a record of the longest unbeaten run in a UAE Pro League season for 23 games before losing to Al Wasl 3–2. In 2019, Sharjah won their first title since 1996 after beating Al Wahda 3–2, this was the first time a team outside of Dubai and Abu Dhabi won the league since the 1996. On 26th May, Emirates and Dibba Al Fujairah were relegated after a fixed match between Shabab Al Ahli and Fujairah favored Fujairah and got them out of relegation. The Emirates demanded that the UAEFA investigate on the match between Shabab Al Ahli and Fujairah, questioning the legitimacy of the two penalties that was rewarded to Fujairah and the two goals that was disallowed for Shabab Al Ahli. However the UAE court later rejected their complaint and the team got relegated
2019–20 UAE Division one was the 44th Division one season. Team changes for the season include Al Bataeh who joined the league, while Hatta and Khor Fakkan was promoted to the UAE Pro League, while Dibba Al Fujairah and Emirates were relegated. However, the season was cancelled with 12 out of 14 UAE Pro League clubs voting in favour of cancelling the season and not a single division one club had a say on the matter. The decision was done due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Arab Emirates and no team were rewarded with promotion.
