Bo, Sierra Leone

Bo City Council is the municipal government of the city of Bo, Sierra Leone's second largest city. [5] The Council is responsible for the general management of the city. The Bo City Council was reestablished in 2004 by the Sierra Leone Parliament under the Sierra Leone Local Government Act [6] [7] [8] The Bo City Council meet at the Bo City Council Hall on Coronation Field Road in Bo, Sierra Leone.

System

Members of the Bo City Council are directly elected every four years by the residents of Bo and they represent different wards throughout the city. Members of the Bo city Council are known as councillors, except the deputy mayor and the Mayor, in whom local executive power is granted within the city of Bo. [9] The current mayor of Bo is Harold Logie Tucker of the Sierra Leone People's Party [10] who was elected with over 69.07% of the vote in the November 2012 Local Council elections. [11]

All officials appointed by the mayor must be approved by the Bo City Council before taking office. Like the rest of the Southern Part of Sierra Leone, Bo city politics is dominated by the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP).

Bo, also commonly referred to as Bo Town, is the second largest city in Sierra Leone by landscape/geographical location and the largest city in the Southern Province. Sheku Badara Bashiru Dumbuya, commonly known as S.B.B. Dumbuya, is a Sierra Leonean politician and former Speaker of the House of Parliament of Sierra Leone. A prominent member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC), S.B.B. Dumbuya was elected as Speaker on January 21, 2014 with one hundred parliamentarians voted in his favor, and fifteen parliamentarians voted for his opponent Bu-Buakei Jabbi of the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). S.B.B. Dumbuya succeeded Abel Nathaniel Bankole Stronge as speaker.

Sunkari Kabba-Kamara is a Sierra Leonean politician and the current mayor of the city of Makeni.

Circular Road Cemetery Cemetery in Freetown, Sierra Leone

Circular Road Cemetery is a cemetery located in Freetown, Sierra Leone. It was opened in 1827. Urban expansion had meant that the old burial ground at the south end of Howe Street had become surrounded by houses and so could not be enlarged. While the old cemetery was still used for the descendants of Nova Scotia and Maroon settlers, this was subsequently turned into a playground.

Femi Claudius Cole is a Sierra Leonean politician. In 2016 she founded the Unity Party, making her the first Sierra Leonean woman to form a political party. In 2018, she was the first woman to run for the office of President of Sierra Leone. She is the only woman party leader in Sierra Leone.
