Robert Fred Grottkau (born March 22, 1937) is a former American football guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Oregon.
Grottkau attended Oakland High School where he played as a fullback. He accepted a scholarship from the University of Oregon. As a sophomore, he was switched to offensive tackle. The next year, he was moved to guard out of necessity and became a two-year starter.
He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round (46th overall) of the 1959 NFL Draft. [1] In 1960, he played only 5 games.
On August 21, 1961, he was traded along with rookie Houston Entwine to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for offensive lineman John Gonzaga. [2]
In 1961, he was a reserve player. On July 31, 1962, he was waived after being unable to overcome a knee injury.
Grottkau was the offensive line coach at San Jose State University for two years. [3] In 1971, he was named the offensive coordinator and line coach for the University of Iowa.
Leonard Barnett Davis is a former American college and professional football player who was an offensive lineman for twelve seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was a consensus All-American for the University of Texas where he was also a two-time Outland Trophy finalist and a Lombardi Trophy semifinalist. Davis was the 2nd overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft where he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. He played for the Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys - where he was a 3-time pro-bowler and a 2nd team all-pro - and the San Francisco 49ers, with whom he went to Super Bowl XLVII. He also spent part of a season with the Detroit Lions, but never took the field for them.
Jason Calvin Garrett is a former American football player and coach and current broadcaster. He previously served as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for 9.5 seasons, from 2010-2019. Garrett has also been offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Cowboys and quarterbacks coach for the Miami Dolphins.
Andre Bernard Gurode is a former American football center and guard who is currently the Offensive line coach for the Houston Roughnecks. He played college football at the University of Colorado, where he was recognized as an earning consensus All-American, and was selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. During his nine seasons with Dallas, he was named to five Pro Bowls. In his final three seasons, Gurode spent one year each for the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, and Oakland Raiders.
