Julian Morton Carroll was an American lawyer and politician from the state of Kentucky. A Democrat,he served as the 54th governor of Kentucky from 1974 to 1979,succeeding Wendell H. Ford,who resigned to accept a seat in the U.S. Senate. He was most recently a member of the Kentucky Senate,representing Anderson,Franklin,Woodford,Gallatin,and Owen counties. He was the first Kentucky governor from the state's far-western Jackson Purchase region. Richard H. Lewis was an American politician from Kentucky who was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1970 to 1975 and 1989 to 1995. He resigned from the house in May 1975 in order to join the executive staff of governor Julian Carroll. Lewis returned to the house in 1988,defeating incumbent representative J. R. Gray for renomination. He retired from the house in 1994.
Larry L. Saunders was an American politician from Kentucky who was a member of the Kentucky Senate from 1986 to 1989 and 1993 to 2005,serving as the president of the Senate from 1997 to 2000. Saunders was first elected to the senate in a November 1986 special election following the resignation of incumbent senator Danny Yocom. He was defeated for the Democratic nomination for a full term in 1998 by Dan Seum. Saunders defeated Seum in a rematch in 1992,and served until he retired from the senate in 2004.
