Bolga is a closed station located in the town of Bolga, on the Cudgewa railway line in Victoria, Australia. Today there is nothing left of the station.

Ferdiad, son of Damán, son of Dáire, of the Fir Domnann, is a warrior of Connacht in the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. In the Táin Bó Cúailnge, Ferdiad finds himself on the side of the war opposite to that taken by his best friend and foster-brother Cú Chulainn, with whom he had trained in arms under the renowned warrior woman Scáthach. He and Cú Chulainn are equal in all martial feats, with two exceptions: the Gáe Bulg, a barbed spear which Scáthach has taught only Cú Chulainn to use; and Ferdiad's horn skin, which no weapon can pierce.

The Gáe Bulg, meaning "spear of mortal pain/death", "gapped/notched spear", or "belly spear", was the name of the spear of Cúchulainn in the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. It was given to him by his martial arts teacher, the warrior woman Scáthach, and its technique was taught only to him.

Bolgatanga, colloquially known as Bolga, is a town and the capital of the Bolgatanga Municipality and Upper East Region of Ghana, adjacent to the border with Burkina Faso. Bolgatanga has over 2012 settlements and a population of about 66,685 people. Bolgatanga is 161 km to the north of Tamale. Bolgatanga lies in the Red Volta River Valley, with the White Volta River and the cliffs of the Gambaga Escarpment to the south of the town forming the southern boundary of the Upper East Region.

Bolga is an island in the municipality of Meløy in Nordland county, Norway. The 2.4-square-kilometre (0.93 sq mi) island has a population (2017) of 105. It is located west of the islands of Meløya and Åmøya, just off the coast of the Helgeland region. The highest point on the island is the 339-metre (1,112 ft) tall Bolgtinden. Most of the population of the island lives along the eastern shore in the village that is also known as Bolga. It is the only village on the island. There are regular ferry connections from Bolga to the islands of Meløya to the east and to Vassdalsvik and Ørnes on the mainland.

Karaga is a small town and is the capital of Karaga district, a district in the Northern Region of north Ghana. It has a population of approximately 15,000. Karaga is one of the Principle Towns of the Dagbon empire. Dagbon is a name used for the Dagomba tribe. This tribe is the controlling tribe over a large area including Gushiegu, Yendi, Kpatinga, and other towns stretching from Gushiegu to the Bolga road, and bordering on Nalarigu on the north. The presiding chief is one of three or four powerful chiefs having many sub-chiefs under him. Karaga has electricity, but no running water. It has two dams and numerous boreholes which provide water for its citizens. Karaga has a hospital and clinic which can provide basic services, as well as numerous pharmacies spread throughout the town. The largest organized religion in the area is Islam, but the town also has an Assembly of God church and a Korean Missionary outreach. Animism, or ancestor worship is still widely practiced, involving witch doctors and juju-men. Sacrifice and traditional festivals are still a large part of Dagomba life. A large market gathers there every six days and provides goods, services and trade for a large area surrounding the town. Karaga has cellular phone service which provides communication and also data for web-surfing. It is the location of Dizem Bella child and maternal health center, run by Nayina Karim, one of MTN Ghana's 2016 Heroes of Change

Meløya is an island in the municipality of Meløy in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies east of the island of Bolga, north of the island of Åmøya, and west of the island of Mesøya. The 21.8-square-kilometre (8.4 sq mi) island is only accessible by boat, and there are regular ferry connections to the nearby villages of Bolga, Støtt, Vassdalsvik, and Ørnes. The island has a population (2017) of 215.
