Bony Dashaco (born Boniface Abayo Dashaco on 1 December 1976), [2] is a Cameroonian businessman, [3] [4] Chairman of the African Center for Marketing, Advertising and Research (ACMAR) media group [5] [6]

Contents

In 2014, he was nominated as an "African leader of tomorrow" by the Institut Choiseul for International Politics and Geoeconomics as a person below the age of 40 who has impacted society. [7] [8] In October 2016, Institut Choiseul ranked him #36 on the list of top 100 African managers below the age of 40. [3] [9]

Career

Dashaco is the president and founder of Médiafrique, an affiliate of ACMAR International. [10] The media company is preset in 22 African countries and has created over 1000 direct jobs. He was nominated in the 2016 Ranking of 50 Most Influential Young Cameroonians by the Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa. [11] In 2016, he was interviewed by France News Network Africa 24 with a special focus on Africa to highlight the development of media in Africa, and its problems and solutions. [12]

In March 2016, the United States embassy in Cameroon visited the Acmar group in Douala and had an interview with the group president based on US foreign policy in Cameroon. [7]

Dashaco was named one of Institut Choiseul for International Politics and Geoeconomics's list of 100 future economic leaders of Africa. [13]

In 2021, he launched three TV channels Dash TV, Dash Info, and Dash Sports & entertainment. [14] [15]

Vera Songwe is an economist and banking executive from Cameroon who worked for the World Bank from 1998 to 2015, and in 2015–2017 served as Western and Central Africa's regional director for the International Finance Corporation. She was the first woman to head the UN's Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) at the level of Under-Secretary-General. Songwe currently serves as a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution's Africa Growth Initiative.

Cameroonian National Paralympic Committee is the primary body in Cameroon for the promotion of sports for people with disabilities. It has four member organizations: Cameroonian Sports Federation for the Visually Impaired (FECASDEV), Cameroonian Sports Federation for the Physically Disabled (FECASDEP), Cameroonian Federation of Sports the Intellectually Disabled (FECASDI) and the Cameroonian Federation for Sports for the Deaf (FECASSO). The President of the Cameroonian Paralympic Committee is Jean Jacques Ndoudoumou. The organization has four vice presidents, who all serve as the presidents of CNPC's member organizations.

Cameroonian Federation of Sports the Intellectually Disabled (FECASDI) (French: Federation Camerounaise Des Sports Pour Deficients Intellectuals (Fecasdi)) is the national sports federation for sportspeople with intellectual disabilities competing in International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS) and Paralympic events. They organize national ID sports championships. The federation was recognized by law in 2010, and then became a member of the Cameroonian Paralympic Committee in 2011. FECASDI has tried to get its sportspeople qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics. They have also hosted several conferences.

ID sports in Cameroon are played in the country by people with intellectual disabilities. These sports are governed by Cameroonian Federation of Sports the Intellectually Disabled (FECASDI) and Special Olympics Cameroon. People with intellectual disabilities in Cameroon lack the same access to educational opportunities as people with other disability types in Cameroon. Development for sporting opportunities for them began in 1995, when Special Olympics came to Cameroon. Since then, other development activities have taken place, focusing on ID football and ID sport in general. Funding for ID sports is often limited.

Cameroonian Sports Federation for People with Disabilities was one of the primary national sports federation for people with disabilities in Cameroon prior to the organization being dissolved in August 2011. It served as the country's National Paralympic Committee for many years. Problems with internal governance arose starting in the early 2000s and continued until the federation closed.

Jean-Marie Aléokol Mabiemé is a Cameroonian political figure and disability sports administrator.

Jean Jacques Ndoudoumou is a public servant and disability sports administrator from Cameroon. An albino, he faced discrimination growing up. He later became the General Director of the Cameroonian Regulatory Board for Public Procurement (ARMP) in 2001, leaving in 2012 after he was fired in the midst of a scandal.

Theatre of Cameroon consists in the theatrical plays produced across Cameroon. Its history dates back to the pre-colonial time, but it has gained wide popularity since the 1970s, with practitioners such as Daniel Ndo, Dieudonné Afana and David Kemzeu. It is made of different trends, some of them are more inflected by the European theatrical tradition, some others are more attuned to the indigenous performative styles. The comic genre is presently dominating so that laughter has become synonymous with modern Cameroon theatre productions, according to Bole Butake. Theatre of Cameroon is sometimes subdivided in traditional theatre, colonial theatre, and post-independence theatre.

Nde Ndifonka, popularly known by his stage name Wax Dey, is a Cameroonian singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and social activist. He won Best Male Artist in Central Africa at the 2016 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). He owns a record label called Calabash Music. In December 2015, he released the Yemi Alade assisted "Saka Makossa" which pays tribute to the Makossa music genre. Wax Dey is also the Producer and main actor of the Cameroonian reality TV contest, Number One Girl, which airs on Equinox TV.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anglophone Crisis</span> 2017–present separatist conflict in Cameroon

The Anglophone Crisis, also known as the Ambazonia War or the Cameroonian Civil War, is an ongoing armed conflict in the English-speaking Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon between the Cameroonian government and Ambazonian separatist groups, part of the long-standing Anglophone problem. Following the suppression of 2016–17 protests by Cameroonian authorities, separatists in the Anglophone regions launched a guerrilla campaign and later proclaimed independence. Within two months, the government of Cameroon declared war on the separatists and sent its army into the Anglophone regions.

Solange Yijika is a Cameroonian actress also much present in the Nigerian theatre and film producer, as well as an activist for women and children's rights. Pascal Monkam was a Cameroonian businessman. He notably owned the hotel chain La Falaise and was the father of 16 children.

Arsène Salomon Mbani Zogo, better known as Martinez Zogo, was a Cameroonian journalist and radio presenter known for his radio show Embouteillage, which reported upon government corruption in Cameroon. In January 2023, Zogo was abducted, tortured and assassinated; over twenty members of Cameroon's intelligence service, the Direction générale de la recherche extérieure, have subsequently been arrested for his death, in addition to Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga, a Cameroonian media magnate.

Hermine Patricia Tomaïno Ndam Njoya, born on January 26, 1969, in Yaoundé, is a Cameroonian politician, entrepreneur, and author. She is a member of the Union démocratique du Cameroun (UDC) and serves as a deputy in the National Assembly of Cameroon.
