The Boston Harbor Island Alliance (also known as simply the "Island Alliance") was a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. As one of the many advocacy groups involved with the Boston Harbor Islands, the Island Alliance "promoted the use, enjoyment and awareness of the Boston Harbor Islands national park area". [1]
The Island Alliance was established in 1996 solely to provide financial support to the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. It worked to attract capital investment from the private sector, and coordinates outside activities to secure financial support for the park system. The Island Alliance directly supported park facilities on the mainland (e.g. construction of the "Gateway" to the park system: the Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion), as well as the renovation of existing facilities (e.g. the Visitors' Centers located on Spectacle Island and Georges Island). The Island Alliance also provided financial management services for the other members of the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership. All members of the Partnership are expected to contribute some amount of funding toward park operations. However, the Island Alliance was the preferred vehicle of revenue generation and capital investment. [2] In April of 2016, the Boston Harbor Island Alliance, merged with The Boston Harbor Association to become Boston Harbor Now. [3]

An investment bank may also assist companies involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and provide ancillary services such as market making, trading of derivatives and equity securities, and FICC services. Infrastructure is the fundamental facilities and systems serving a country, city, or other area, including the services and facilities necessary for its economy to function. Infrastructure is composed of public and private physical improvements such as roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, and telecommunications. In general, it has also been defined as "the physical components of interrelated systems providing commodities and services essential to enable, sustain, or enhance societal living conditions".
A public–private partnership is a cooperative arrangement between two or more public and private sectors, typically of a long-term nature. Public–private partnerships are primarily used for infrastructure provision, such as the building and equipping of schools, hospitals, transport systems, and water and sewerage systems. PPPs have been highly controversial as funding tools, largely over concerns that public return on investment is lower than returns for the private funder. PPPs are closely related to concepts such as privatization and the contracting out of government services. The lack of a shared understanding of what a PPP is makes the process of evaluating whether PPPs have been successful complex. Evidence of PPP performance in terms of value for money and efficiency, for example, is mixed and often unavailable. Common themes of PPPs are the sharing of risk and the development of innovation.
