A boy band is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation. Generally, boy bands perform love songs marketed towards girls and young women. Many boy bands dance as well as sing, usually giving highly choreographed performances. South Korean boy bands usually also have designated rappers.
V were a British five-piece boy band made up of Antony Brant, Aaron Buckingham, Mark Harle, Kevin McDaid and Leon Pisani. Founded in 2003, they disbanded after two years, in 2005.
Blue are a British boy band consisting of members Simon Webbe, Duncan James, Antony Costa and Lee Ryan. Dane Leon Bowers is an English singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. He was a part of R&B boy band Another Level between 1997 and 2000 when he performed on seven Top 10 singles, before taking up solo projects with True Steppers and Victoria Beckham. Så mycket bättre is a Swedish reality television show broadcast on TV4. The basic premise is that each participating musician performs their own version of a well-known song by another artist, with each episode focusing on every participant performing a different song by the same artist. The musicians spend eight days together at a hotel in Gotland, where they re-interpret the songs in their own styles.
One Direction, often shortened to 1D, are an English-Irish pop boy band formed in London in 2010. The group is composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and previously Zayn Malik until his departure from the group in March 2015. Stereo Kicks were an English-Irish boy band who were formed and were the twelfth contestant eliminated on the eleventh series of The X Factor in 2014. Stereo Kicks consisted of; James Graham, Jake Sims, Chris Leonard, Charlie Jones, Casey Johnson, Barclay Beales, Reece Bibby, and Tom Mann. Their debut single "Love Me So" was released on 21 June 2015 and charted at number 31 on the UK Singles Chart. Just a month later, however, having been together under a year, they announced they were disbanding due to their failure to land a record deal.
Shima Niavarani is an Iranian-Swedish actress and singer. She has performed in theater, film, television and radio in over 40 productions. Niavarani got her breakthrough at the age of nineteen in the play Autodidakt i enmansakt which she directed and played in. She toured with the play for over a year and her work received several awards. She is perhaps most known for her solo-musical Shima Niavarani är en Übermensch which was broadcast on SVT in 2010, and for her role as "Maiken" in the TV4 series Allt faller which was directed by Henrik Schyffert.
Modus is a Swedish television psychological thriller series, directed by Lisa Siwe and Mani Maserrat, based upon the novel Frukta inte by Norwegian author and lawyer Anne Holt and adapted for television by Emmy Award winning writers Mai Brostrøm and Peter Thorsboe. The series follows the work of Inger Johanne Vik, a Swedish criminal psychologist and profiler, who has previously assisted both the Swedish police and the FBI in the United States.
JMKO is the R&B, Soul, and Pop alias of Manila-born artist Jamiko Allan Sabbun Manguba. JMKO is a Filipino musician signed as one of the newest singers of ABS-CBN Star Music. He was a former member of GMA Network's winning boy band Top One Project and made his debut as a singer with organizations in De La Salle University including De La Salle Innersoul and an a cappella group called "Taftonic." In 2015, Manguba auditioned for the reality show To The Top, and ended up being one of the grand winners that was later grouped together and became known as Top One Project.
Pinoy Boyband Superstar is a Philippine reality singing competition shown on ABS-CBN. The show is hosted by Billy Crawford. The judges of the show are composed of Aga Muhlach, Yeng Constantino, Sandara Park and Vice Ganda. The show premiered on September 10, 2016, replacing the third season of The Voice Kids. The goal of the show is to find the members for the newest "Pinoy boyband".
Joao Micael Villanueva Constancia is a Filipino actor, singer, and dancer. Constancia is known for his roles in Four Sisters Before the Wedding (2020) and He's Into Her (2021), both produced by Star Cinema. His other notable credits include appearances in Ngayon at Kailanman (2018), Maalaala Mo Kaya (2021), and the lead role in My Lockdown Romance (2020), alongside Jameson Blake.
Brockhampton was an American hip hop boy band founded in 2010 as AliveSinceForever in San Marcos, Texas. Led by Kevin Abstract and formed partially through online music discussion forum KanyeToThe, Brockhampton was a self-described "boy band", so-called in an effort to redefine the term. Complex magazine describes the group as "gay, black, white, DIY, ambitious, all-inclusive, and would-be pop stars," and this diversity is what largely distinguishes their lyrics and sound. The group's final line-up consisted of vocalists Kevin Abstract, Matt Champion, Merlyn Wood, and Dom McLennon, vocalists/producers Joba, Bearface, and Jabari Manwa and producers Romil Hemnani and Kiko Merley, as well as graphic designer Henock "HK" Sileshi, photographer Ashlan Grey, web designer Roberto Ontenient, and manager Jon Nunes.
