Boycrush is the alias of New Zealand recording artist, producer and session drummer Alistair Ross Deverick signed to Angry Mob Music publishing in Los Angeles, California. [1]

Solo career

His first release was Everybody All The Time EP in 2012, [2] which grew out of time spent at the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid in 2011. [3] [4]

In 2013 he opened for Lorde at her second ever NZ show at Galatos basement in Auckland. [5]

His second release, EP Girls On Top (2014) premiered on the Guardian [6] with the lead single Flirt featuring on multiple music publications [7] and being commissioned for use in the Hollywood film Bad Moms. [8]

The same EP earned him a nomination for the Critic's Choice prize at the 2015 New Zealand Music Awards. [9]

In 2018 he released his debut album Desperate Late Night Energy which earned him a nomination for Best Electronic Artist at the 2018 New Zealand Music Awards. [10]

Drumming career

In 2010 he joined Sub Pop band The Ruby Suns and toured the United States and Europe in support of Fight Softly and in 2013 he played on and toured Christopher.

In 2014 he played drums with Neil Finn on the ‘Dizzy Heights’ tour throughout Australia, Europe and the United States. [11]

He recorded drums for Lawrence Arabia’s 2016 album Absolute Truth recorded with Mike Fabulous in Petone, Wellington. [12] He also recorded drums for Lawrence Arabia's 2018 album Singles Club. [13]

<i>The Love Club EP</i> 2012 EP by Lorde

The Love Club EP is the debut extended play (EP) by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde. At the age of 12, she was discovered by Universal Music Group scout Scott MacLachlan, and began writing songs. In December 2011, MacLachlan paired Lorde with producer Joel Little, and within three weeks, the pair had co-written and produced all five songs on the EP. In November 2012, Lorde self-released the EP for free download via SoundCloud. On 8 March 2013 the record was commercially released by Universal Music Group and Virgin Records.

Joel Little is a New Zealand record producer, musician and Grammy Award-winning songwriter. He is best known for his work as a writer and producer with artists Lorde, Taylor Swift, Broods, Sam Smith, Imagine Dragons, Ellie Goulding, Khalid, Elliphant, Jarryd James, Shawn Mendes, Marina Diamandis, Amy Shark, Goodnight Nurse, Noah Kahan, Years & Years, the Jonas Brothers, and Niall Horan.

New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde has released three studio albums, four extended plays, 12 singles and nine music videos. At the age of 13, she was signed to Universal Music Group (UMG) and started to write music. In November 2012, when she was 16 years old, she self-released The Love Club EP via SoundCloud. It was released for sale by UMG in March 2013; a song from the EP, "Royals", topped numerous single charts internationally, including the US Billboard Hot 100. The track sold over 10 million units worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all-time.

The award was first awarded in 2002 as Best R&B/Hip Hop Album, and in 2003 it was called Best Urban Album. In 2004 it moved to Best Urban/Hip Hop Album. In 2017 the award was split into two separate awards: Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Soul/RnB Artist. The entry criteria were also changed to require either an album or a minimum of five single releases in the eligibility period.

<i>Evergreen</i> (Broods album) 2014 studio album by Broods

Evergreen is the debut studio album by New Zealand music duo Broods, which was released on 22 August 2014. Following the release of their self-titled EP, Broods, earlier that year, the album includes two songs from that EP and the new single "Mother & Father". Upon its release, Evergreen debuted at number 1 on the New Zealand Albums Chart and was certified gold by Recorded Music NZ for sales exceeding 7,500 copies. Songs from the album were performed live during the first half of 2014. Produced by Joel Little, known for his work with fellow New Zealander Lorde, the album explores alternative pop music, with influences of indie genres.

The 2015 New Zealand Music Awards was the 50th holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical recording artists based in or originating from New Zealand. It took place on 19 November 2015 at Vector Arena in Auckland and was hosted by Taika Waititi. The awards show was broadcast live on TV3, and hosted by Sharyn Casey and Dominic Bowden. 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the awards from its origins in 1965 as the Loxene Golden Disc.

Tomorrow People is a seven-piece New Zealand reggae band that formed in 2010. Their debut album One was released on 1 June 2012 under Illegal Musik / Warner Music and debuted at Number One on the New Zealand charts. It was later certified Gold. They have also released an EP called One.5 in 2014, and a full-length album called Bass & Bassinets in 2015. Their EP "BBQ" Reggae was released in January 2018 and debuted at number one in New Zealand.

Cairo Knife Fight (CKF) is a rock band originating from New Zealand, founded in 2007 by musical artist Nick Gaffaney, featuring a drum and guitar duo incorporating real-time layered loops.

The 2017 New Zealand Music Awards was the 52nd holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical recording artists based in or originating from New Zealand. It took place on 16 November 2017 at Spark Arena in Auckland and it was hosted by Jono Pryor and Ben Boyce. The awards show was broadcast live nationally on Three.

Kingdon Chapple-Wilson, known professionally as Kings, is a New Zealand rapper, singer and songwriter. He has been producing music under his self-run label Arch Angel Records since 2018, and holds the record for longest-running No. 1 single in New Zealand for his 2016 song "Don't Worry Bout' It".

Cellarr is a band from Auckland, New Zealand, formed in 2012 by Jen Newton, PJ Shepherd, Harry Carter and George Powell. The original singer, Jen Newton, left the band in 2014 and was replaced by Possum Plows. Plows later left the band in 2020. Openside was originally known as Maybe Rave; however, they later changed their name to Openside, inspired by the sport Quidditch where one of the positions is Openside Chaser. In 2016, the band released their debut EP Album "Push Back" which reached number twelve in the New Zealand Charts and number two in the New Zealand Music Charts. In 2020, the band broke up and the males from the band created their new band called "Cellarr".

Em-Haley Walker, known professionally as Theia, is an alt-pop artist from New Zealand. In 2016 she released her debut major label single, 'Roam' with her accompanying EP Theia released on 30 June 2017. The EP debuted at No. 15 in New Zealand's Official Top 40, and at No. 3 in the NZ Album Chart. Her second EP Not Your Princess was released on 12 April 2019 and in May 2020 Theia released her 99% Angel mixtape.
