Bozymchak is an open-pit copper mine and concentrator in Ala-Bukinsky region, Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan; it also contains gold by-product. It is being developed by KAZ Minerals. The project commenced commissioning in 2014. [2] [3]

Copper is a chemical element with the symbol Cu and atomic number 29. It is a soft, malleable, and ductile metal with very high thermal and electrical conductivity. A freshly exposed surface of pure copper has a pinkish-orange color. In 2014, 426 kt of ore was mined at Bozymchak mine with an average copper grade of 1%. [2] Bozymchak is expected to have an average annual output of 6 kt of copper cathode and 28 koz of gold bar over the 18 years of operational life. [2] [3]

Over its history, the Company evolved from being a major primary molybdenum producer to becoming a copper and gold mining company with the construction and development of the Mount Milligan mine and concentrator in British Columbia, Canada. Mount Milligan was Thompson Creek Metals principal operation and the company owned 100% of this property. The company also owned 100% of its Thompson Creek Mine in Idaho. The Bozshakol mine is a large copper mine located in northern Kazakhstan in North Kazakhstan Province. Bozshakol represents one of the largest copper deposits in Kazakhstan and largest single mine development in the Commonwealth of Independent States region by both scope and volume of production. It has estimated reserves of 1.17 billion tonnes of ore grading 0.36% copper with valuable by-products of gold and molybdenum.

The Aktogay mine is a large open-pit mine located in south eastern Kazakhstan in East Kazakhstan Province approximately 250 km from Kazakhstan - China border. Aktogay is KAZ Minerals's second major growth project.

The company operates 4 underground mines and 3 concentrators in the East Region, one open pit mine at Bozymchak, Kyrgyzstan and is developing two major growth projects Aktogay and Bozshakol, with the third - Koksay - at scoping stage. KAZ Minerals was created after the completion of the Restructuring of Kazakhmys PLC. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and it is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

Las Bambas copper mine is a large project located in Apurímac, Peru. It is an open-pit mine located at altitude of about 4000 meters above sea level. It is a polymetallic mine which significant mineral resources and ore reserves of copper with an estimated mine life of at least 20 years. Production at the mine is scheduled to start in 2015 following an 80% confirmation completion of the project on 31 Dec 2014. The first production of concentrate out of the mine is expected to be in the first quarter of 2016.

Koksay is a copper deposit located in south eastern Kazakhstan in Almaty region around 230 km from Almaty. The deposit is KAZ Minerals Group’s third major growth project and was acquired in June 2014 for $260 million.
