The Bravos de Margarita (Margarita Braves) are a professional baseball team who plays in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League since the 2007-08 season.
The team was founded in 1991 as the Petroleros de Cabimas (Cabimas Oilers), and played through the 1994-95 season. Later was renamed as Pastora de Occidente (Shepherds of the West) from 1995-96 to 1996-97, being also known as Pastora de los Llanos (Shepherds of the Plains) from 1997-98 to 2006-07.
The Bravos de Margarita play at Estadio Nueva Esparta located in Margarita Island. They have since used other stadiums in the LVBP as temporary home fields. [1]

The Nueva Esparta State is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. It comprises Margarita Island, Coche, and the largely uninhabited Cubagua.
Cabimas is a city on the shore of Maracaibo Lake in Zulia State in northwestern Venezuela. In 2005, its population was around 200,859.

The fifty-sixth edition of the Caribbean Series was played in 2014. It was held from February 1 through February 8 of 2014 with the champion baseball teams of Cuba, Naranjas de Villa Clara; Dominican Republic, Tigres del Licey; Mexico, Naranjeros de Hermosillo; Puerto Rico, Indios de Mayagüez, and Venezuela, Navegantes del Magallanes. The games were played at Estadio Nueva Esparta in Margarita Island, Porlamar, Venezuela. Unlike previous Series, the five teams competed through a ten-game round robin schedule, each team facing the other teams once, followed by a final four playoff round. This was the first time since 1960 that a Cuban team took part.

There have been four different professional baseball clubs in Venezuela that have played under the name Pastora. These teams have been established in the northwest of the country, particularly in the states of Zulia and Acarigua, and have played in different leagues between 1931 and 2000.

The Petroleros de Cabimas was a baseball club that played from 1991 through 1995 in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. The Petroleros joined the league as an expansion team in the Western Division and played its home games at Estadio Víctor Davalillo in Cabimas, a town on the shore of Maracaibo Lake in Zulia State.

The 2017 Copa Venezuela was the 48th edition of the competition. It began with the first round on 26 April and finished with the second leg of the final on 29 November 2017. The winner qualified to the 2018 Copa Sudamericana.
