Breathe (stylised as breathe.) are an Australian minimal soul duo that blends soul and electronic music. They consist of Sean Walker (a founding member of the band Movement) and Andrew Grant. They are currently based in Sydney, Australia [1] [2] [3] and Toronto, Canada. [4]

History

Breathe was formed in Sydney in 2018. The band was founded by Sean Walker, who had founded the Australian "minimal soul" band Movement, [5] and Andrew Grant. [6]

Their debut single Are You All Good was released in September 2018 via the label Silk, [7] [8] and was described as "late night emotion." [3] It was also released with a self-directed music video in collaboration with cinematographer Tim Nagle. [9] [10]

Breathe's second single London [11] was premiered by Complex [12] and The Line of Best Fit has compared the music to "the beauty of a peaceful night." [11]

Their third single, Haze, was released in 2019. [4] [13] The music video for Haze was directed by Dave May of Tall Story Films. [13]

Breathe's music was described as "minimal soul" as well as "late night soul" [3] that is "brilliantly minimalistic." [14] Rufus du Sol described the music as a "sultry underworld that pulls you right in", and Ta-ku said the band's music "hit me right in my feelings." [15]

Indie Shuffle has compared the band to Moses Sumney and Michael Kiwanuka, [16] and Hypebeast reviewed Haze as an "atmospheric" song that gives off a "ghostly yet lovesick vibe." [13]

The duos song ‘Are You All Good’ was featured in the Netflix show "You (TV series)", [17] [18] "Couples Therapy (2019 TV series)" [19] and the Spanish TV series "Elite (TV series)". [20]

Breathe performed a cover of Nina Simone’s 'Feeling Good' for a Tourism NSW Advertisement. [21]

Several of Pnau's later projects have had John's involvement, such as the album Soft Universe and an album of Pnau recreations of Elton John's hits called Good Morning to the Night.

D'Sound is a Norwegian neo soul band based in Oslo, Norway. The band was formed in 1993 with a line-up composed of lead vocalist Simone Eriksrud, bassist Jonny Sjo and drummer Kim Ofstad. After Eriksrud's initial departure in 2018, the band announced that they would continue as a duo and collaborate with various international artists to provide vocals for future material. Bae Louie band member Mirjam Omdal joined in 2019 as a lead vocalist. Eriksrud returned to the band as a touring member in 2022.

"Heavydirtysoul" is a song by American musical duo Twenty One Pilots from their fourth studio album Blurryface (2015). It was written by vocalist Tyler Joseph, who derived some of its lyrics from a poem called "Street Poetry" which he had written and published three years earlier. The track was produced by American record producer Ricky Reed and recorded at Serenity West Recording in Hollywood, California. As the opening track of Blurryface, "Heavydirtysoul" acts as the album's introduction, both musically and thematically. The song contains a self-referential statement where Joseph touches on the concept by candidly addressing its music with self-aware lyrics that give away his insecurities.

Polish Club are an Australian garage rock duo from Sydney, New South Wales formed in 2014. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist David Novak and drummer John-Henry Pajak. As of 2023, they have released four studio albums. At the APRA Music Awards of 2024, they won the award for Most Performed Rock Work.

Seaforth are the musical duo of Tom Jordan and Mitch Thompson. They are signed to Sony Nashville and released their debut EP in April 2019.

Drama is a duo from Chicago consisting of producer Na'el Shehade and vocalist/songwriter Via Rosa. Often described as a blend of R&B and dance, their music spans a wide variety of genres including pop, hip hop, jazz, bossa nova, and electronic. The band is known for their independent approach to creating and releasing their music. Their debut album Dance Without Me was released in February 2020.

Shouse are an Australian-New Zealand electronic music duo consisting of Jack Madin and Ed Service. They are best known for their 2017 single "Love Tonight", which experienced renewed popularity in 2021, becoming an anthem during the pandemic.

Rhyan Clapham, known by his stage name Dobby, is a Filipino-Aboriginal Australian musician. He describes himself as a "drapper", a contraction of rapper and drummer, although he also plays other instruments and is also a composer. He sometimes raps with the indie rock band Jackie Brown Jr, but on his own is mainly a hip hop artist.
