Brett Harrell (born July 1,1961) is an American former politician from Georgia. Harrell was a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives from the 106th District,serving from 2011 to 2021. Harrell sponsored 206 bills. 3 Doors Down is an American rock band from Escatawpa,Mississippi,formed in 1996. The Georgia Multi-Modal Passenger Terminal (MMPT) was a planned passenger terminal,designed by FXFOWLE Architects and Cooper Carry,to be built in a location to be determined near the Five Points MARTA rail station in The Gulch area of Downtown Atlanta. Montrezl Dashay Harrell is an American professional basketball player for the Adelaide 36ers of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals where he received the Karl Malone Award in 2015 as a junior for being the top power forward in the nation. Harrell was selected in the second round of the 2015 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017 where he was awarded as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2020. Harrell spent the following three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers,Washington Wizards,Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers. He missed the entire 2023–24 season after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Harrell signed with the 36ers in 2024.
A special election to determine the member of the United States House of Representatives for Georgia's 6th congressional district was held on April 18,2017,with a runoff held two months later on June 20. Republican Karen Handel narrowly defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff in the runoff vote,51.8% to 48.2%. Handel succeeded Tom Price,who resigned from the seat following his confirmation as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Trump administration. The runoff election was necessary when no individual candidate earned the majority of votes in the election on April 18. Ossoff received 48.1% of the vote in the first round,followed by Handel with 19.8%.
