Bridgetown College is a secondary school in Bridgetown, County Wexford, Ireland. It is a co-educational school managed by the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board.
After the enactment of the Vocational Education Act in 1930, an experimental vocational school was established in rented accommodation in Bridgetown village. [3] Enrolment slowly increased and it was not until the 1960s that the need for a proper post-primary school in the area was accepted, and in October 1965, 44 students and five teachers moved from the rented accommodation into a new purpose-built school. [3]
The numbers continued to increase and by 1976, when students sat for the Leaving Certificate for the first time, enrolment stood at 329. To cope with the increasing numbers, a new building was officially opened by the Minister for Education Mary O'Rourke on 12 October 1984. By 2024, the school had 604 students. [1]
In December 2003, Bridgetown College celebrated its 50th anniversary. [4]
A building extension, completed in Summer 2007, had a floor area of 1,800 square metres (19,000 sq ft) and provided eight classrooms, a new art room, a science laboratory, a tiered demonstration room, a technology room, a senior engineering room, a general purpose and dining area, a new staff room, a new administration area and extra toilet and cloakroom facilities. An extension to the gymnasium was also completed in 2007. [5]
The school offers the Junior Certificate, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, and the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. [6]
Education in England is overseen by the Department for Education. Local government authorities are responsible for implementing policy for public education and state-funded schools at a local level. State-funded schools may be selective grammar schools or non-selective comprehensive schools. All state schools are subject to assessment and inspection by the government department Ofsted. England also has private schools and home education; legally, parents may choose to educate their children by any suitable means.

Newbridge College, the Dominican College Newbridge, is a co-educational private fee-paying voluntary secondary school in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland, run by the Roman Catholic Dominican Order. The Dominican Friars founded Newbridge Dominican College in 1852 as a boarding school for boys. Today, still run by the Dominican Fathers, Newbridge College is a mixed day school with a student population of almost 1,000 pupils. It is also the home of a resident Community of Dominican Friars - the Priory and Church being centred between the two wings of the College buildings.

Selkirk College is a public community college founded in 1966, with its main campus in Castlegar BC. The college has student housing at its Castlegar and Nelson campuses. Students frequently struggle to find accommodation. The college has seen shrinking enrolment for the past seven years, dropping from 1,987 FTE students in 2015/16 to 1,239 in 2022/23. International students currently account for 11% of total student headcount, a decrease of 3% over the past five years, the lowest rate for a public BC college. Indigenous students comprise 8% of total student numbers.

The village is 18 kilometres (11 mi) south-west of Wexford town, close to the fishing village of Kilmore Quay which is one of the largest fishing harbours in Ireland. 'Duncormick' is sometimes used to refer not only to a village, but also to the rural area surrounding it.

On 12 March 2020, all schools, colleges, and childcare facilities in the Republic of Ireland were shut down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shutdown resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 Leaving Certificate and 2020–2021 Junior Certificate examinations, as well as all 2020–2021 Irish language summer courses in the Gaeltacht.
