The Michigan Wolverines comprise 29 varsity sports teams at the University of Michigan. These teams compete in the NCAA's Division I and in the Big Ten Conference in all sports except women's water polo, which competes in the NCAA inter-divisional Collegiate Water Polo Association. Team colors are maize and blue, though these are different shades of "maize" and "blue" than those used by the university at large. The winged helmet is a recognized icon of Michigan Athletics.

Kyla Briana Ross is a retired American artistic gymnast. She was an elite gymnast from 2009 to 2016 where she was a member of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team. She was named to the 2012 Summer Olympic squad, dubbed the Fierce Five, which won the gold medal in the team competition. Ross was also a member of the gold-medal-winning U.S. team at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Individually, she is the 2013 world all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam silver medalist and the 2014 world all-around bronze medalist.

McKayla Rose Maroney is an American retired artistic gymnast and singer. She was a member of the American women's gymnastics team dubbed the Fierce Five at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the team and an individual silver medal in the vault event. Maroney was also a member of the gold-winning American team at the 2011 World Championships, where she won gold medals in the team and vault competitions. She defended her World title and won the gold medal on vault at the 2013 World Championships, becoming the first U.S. female gymnast to defend a World Championship vault title.
Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas is an American artistic gymnast. She is the 2012 Olympic all around champion and the 2015 World all-around silver medalist. She was a member of the gold-winning teams at both the 2012 and the 2016 Summer Olympics, dubbed the "Fierce Five" and the "Final Five" by the media, respectively. She was also a member of the gold-winning American teams at the 2011 and the 2015 World Championships.
Christine Jennifer Peng-Peng Lee is a Canadian artistic gymnast. She was a member of the Canadian team that qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics and committed to attend UCLA after the Olympics, where she led UCLA to a comeback win at the 2018 NCAA National Championship. Lee prefers using her Chinese name, Peng Peng, when doing gymnastics and she claims that it makes her feel like "someone completely different."
The Nastia Liukin Cup is an annual artistic gymnastics competition held in the United States and hosted by Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin. First held in 2010, the event arose through a partnership between Liukin and USA Gymnastics, and is intended to serve as a debut for pre-elite competitors on the national stage. Eligible to compete are Level 10 female gymnasts in both the junior and senior fields.
Talia Chiarelli is a Canadian artistic gymnast. In 2006, she moved with her family to Boston and trains at Brestyan's Gymnastics in Burlington, Massachusetts, but still represents the Bluewater Gymnastics Club in competition. She is the daughter of former Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli.
Quazi Syque Caesar is an artistic gymnast who represented Bangladesh at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He was a captain of the Michigan Wolverines men's gymnastics team. Now he is an assistant coach for the Stanford University men's gymnastics team.

The 2016 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships were held April 15–16, 2016, at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The 2016 edition marks the second consecutive time the Championship has been held in Fort Worth; this only the second time it has been held in the state of Texas. The team competition was won by Oklahoma with a score 197.675.
Trinity Lemyra Thomas is an American artistic gymnast and a four-time National Team member (2016–20). She was a member of the gold-medal winning team at the 2018 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, where she also won silver medals in the individual all-around and on the uneven bars, as well as the bronze medalist on balance beam and floor exercise at the 2017 national championships. She is also currently a member of the Florida Gators women's gymnastics team.
The USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal relates to the sexual abuse of female athletes—primarily minors at the time of the abuse—over two decades in the United States, starting in the late 1990s. More than 368 people alleged that they were sexually assaulted "by gym owners, coaches, and staff working for gymnastics programs across the country". Particularly, longtime USA Gymnastics (USAG) national team doctor Larry Nassar has been named in hundreds of lawsuits filed by athletes who said that Nassar engaged in sexual abuse for at least 14 years under the pretense of providing medical treatment. Since the scandal was first reported by The Indianapolis Star in September 2016, more than 265 women, including former USAG national team members Jessica Howard, Jamie Dantzscher, Morgan White, Jeanette Antolin, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Maggie Nichols, Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, Jordyn Wieber, Sabrina Vega, Ashton Locklear, Kyla Ross, Madison Kocian, Amanda Jetter, Tasha Schwikert, Mattie Larson, Bailie Key, Kennedy Baker, Alyssa Baumann, and Terin Humphrey have accused Nassar of sexually assaulting them. It is one of the largest sexual abuse scandals in sports history.
Olivia Greaves is an American artistic gymnast and a member of the United States women's national gymnastics team (2018–Present).
Joanna Sampson is a former American artistic gymnast. She competed for the Michigan Wolverines women's gymnastics team. Sampson was the first gymnast in Michigan program history to score a perfect 10.0 on floor exercise in any postseason competition in 2014.
