The British Florist Association (BFA) is the industry trade group that represents the British flower retail trade.
The BFA represents UK florists. It is the UK member of Florint, the European Federation of Professional Florists Associations, which is based in Veenendaal, Utrecht in the Netherlands. Floristry Business members enjoy benefits and a community of peers. Individually florists can join The Institute of Professional Florists which awards membership dependant on the level of qualification the florist holds. Corporate members (those businesses who supply the floral industry) support the association through membership as well. The organisation maintains a list of registered BFA business members on the website, who agree to uphold a code of conduct. These can be viewed by the consumer. The BFA took over the Society of Floristry on 28.2.2010, absorbing its membership and taking on the role as the standard-setting organisation for professional floristry in the UK. The BFA have a Training and Education committee of tutors, employers and industry professionals who liaise with relevant organisations to keep qualifications in Floristry relevant and to a high standard.
The BFA is involved with organising national competitions, and works closely with World Skills UK and the RHS on presenting the profession to the public through it exhibitions and presentations.
The BFA was founded in 1917 as the British Flower Marketing Association. Its founding president was George Munro VMH. It became the BFA in 1948. In 1977 it took over the British Flower Industry Association. [1]

FTD LLC also known as Florists' Transworld Delivery, is a floral wire service, retailer, and wholesaler based in Downers Grove, Illinois, in the United States. FTD was founded as Florists' Telegraph Delivery in 1910, to help customers send flowers remotely on the same day by using florists in the FTD network who are near the intended recipient. It was based in Detroit, Michigan, and then moved to Southfield, Michigan, prior to its move to Downers Grove. It originated as a retailers' cooperative and began a process of demutualization in 1994. It operates two main businesses: The Consumer Business sells flowers and gift items through its websites and The Floral Business sells computer services, software and even fresh cut flowers to FTD and Interflora affiliated florists.

The Texas State Florists' Association (TSFA) was founded in 1914 and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Since its inception, the TSFA has grown into a professional trade association that covers many branches of the floral industry. Its membership base includes a diverse assortment of people in the floral industry, and it is involved in professional services and marketing in support of floral interests, state legislation, and the provision of educational opportunities. It represents the Texas floral industry, and has members in ten additional states. The organization hosts an annual convention, the first of which occurred in 1914. The TSFA sponsors the Texas Certified Florists Program, and publishes a monthly magazine named TEXAS in Bloom.
The Society of Floristry Limited was formed in 1951 to meet the growing need for professional recognition for florists in the UK. Its first major task, after forming a Council of directors composed of leading florists in the industry, was to write, run and mark examinations in floristry skills and theory, which it did successfully for almost 49 years. It developed into an educational and standard-setting body which pioneered the concept of floristry as a profession, running regular workshops and educational seminars for florists undertaking study and continuing professional development. It went out of existence in 2010.
