Broadzilla are a hard rock band from Detroit, Michigan. They have released two CDs, two EPs, and have won six Detroit Music Awards. [1] The band consists of Rachel May, Kim Essiambre, and Angie Manly.
Broadzilla was formed as an all-female metal/punk band in 1996, by Detroit singer/guitarist Rachel May. [2] The original lineup also consisted of bassist Michelle Chapman (then known as Michelle Fields), guitarist Marlene Hammerle, and drummer Jen Moffitt. This lineup released the four-song self-titled EP Broadzilla on cassette only in 1996. Drummer Angie Manly joined in 1997. [2]
By 1999, shortly before the release of the band's first full-length album, the second guitarist spot was occupied by Melody Baetens (under the stage name Melody Licious). [3] The band released the CD Broadzilla vs. the Tramp-o-Lean in October 1999. [4] The album featured a cover of "No More Fun" by the band Feisty Cadavers. [5] Melody Licious was pictured on the album and credited with guitar and backing vocals, but in reality she only contributed backing vocals to the track "Cum Guzzlin Whore."
Bassist Kim Essiambre joined in early 2000. [2] A short time later, Baetens departed and was not replaced. Baetens later joined the Detroit glam band the Sirens, and also turned up in the Detroit garage punk band Gore Gore Girls, as did another former Broadzilla guitarist, Marlene Hammerle. [6]
In April 2001, Broadzilla won their first of six Detroit Music Awards for best hard rock/heavy metal artist. [7] Their second album Lady Luck was released in October 2001. [8] [9] To date, the album has sold more than 8.000 copies. Included on the album were the lead track "Ecstasy" for which a full music video was produced, [10] a cover of the 1968 song "Love Child" by Diana Ross and the Supremes, [5] and two remixes of the original track "Liquor Snatch" by Detroit techno DJ Sean Deason. [11]
In August 2003, Broadzilla toured England for the first time. [12] Two more British tours followed in fall 2003 and summer 2004 (the two summer tours included high-profile appearances at the annual Bulldog Bash music festival). [2] Broadzilla continued winning regularly at the Detroit Music Awards, picking up additional trophies for best hard rock/heavy metal artist in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007 (they were not eligible in 2004). Rites of Spring was an American punk rock band from Washington, D.C., formed in late 1983. Along with Embrace, and Beefeater, they were one of the mainstay acts of the 1985 Revolution Summer movement which took place within the Washington, D.C. hardcore punk scene.
Slowdive are a British rock band that formed in Reading, Berkshire, in 1989. The band consists of Rachel Goswell on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Neil Halstead on vocals and guitar, Christian Savill on guitar, Nick Chaplin on bass guitar and Simon Scott on drums, all of whom have played on the band's debut studio album Just for a Day (1991). Halstead is the band's primary songwriter.
Milo Goes to College is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Descendents, released on September 4, 1982 through New Alliance Records. Its title refers to singer Milo Aukerman's decision to leave the band to attend college, and its cover illustration introduced a caricature of him that would go on to become the band's mascot. Milo Goes To College was Descendents' last record with founding guitarist Frank Navetta, who quit the band during the hiatus that followed its release.
Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.

My Brain Hurts is the third studio album by the Chicago-based punk rock band Screeching Weasel. The album was originally released on CD, vinyl and cassette in September 1991 through Lookout Records. It was the group's first album on Lookout as well as the only release with bassist Dave Naked and the first with drummer Dan Panic, the latter of which would go on to appear on several of the band's albums. The album marked a very distinct stylistic shift for the group, fully moving toward a Ramones-inspired sound and completely abandoning their previous hardcore punk influences as a condition made by vocalist Ben Weasel when reforming the band after a brief break-up.
