Brody Brecht (born September 27,2002) is an American college baseball pitcher for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Brecht grew up in Ankeny,Iowa and attended Ankeny High School,where he played baseball and football and also ran track. [1] He caught 35 passes for 796 yards and seven touchdowns during his junior season. [2] Brecht had 42 receptions for 599 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. [3] He was also named the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year in baseball after going 10–0 with a 0.57 ERA with 126 strikeouts. [4] Brecht committed to play both baseball and football at the University of Iowa. [5] He was considered a late-rising prospect in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft,but ultimately went unselected due to his strong commitment to play football at Iowa. [6] [7]
Brecht redshirted his true freshman football season with the Iowa Hawkeyes. [8] In baseball,he made 17 pitching appearances with one start and went 1–3 with a 3.18 ERA and 44 strikeouts. [9] After his freshman year,Brecht played summer collegiate baseball for the Clinton LumberKings of the Prospect League. [10] He played in nine games during his redshirt freshman football season with five starts,catching nine passes for 87 yards. [11] Shortly before the start of Iowa's spring football practices,Brecht announced he would be giving up football to focus solely on baseball. [12]
Kirk James Ferentz is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at the University of Iowa,a position he has held since the 1999 season. From 1990 to 1992,Ferentz was the head football coach at the University of Maine. He was also an assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Ferentz played college football as a linebacker at the University of Connecticut from 1974 to 1976. Since 2017,he has been the longest tenured FBS coach with one program. Ferentz is the all-time wins leader at Iowa.
Aubrey Alvin "Aub" Devine was an American football and basketball player,coach,and lawyer. He was the quarterback for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football team from 1919 to 1921. He was selected as a first-team All-Big Ten Conference player all three years at Iowa and was the consensus All-American quarterback in 1921. Devine served as the head basketball coach at the University of Denver for two seasons,from 1923 to 1925. He later worked as an assistant football coach under Howard Jones at the University of Southern California (USC). Devine was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1973.
The 1985 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the University of Iowa in the 1985 Big Ten Conference football season. The Hawkeyes were led by seventh-year head coach Hayden Fry and played their home games at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City,Iowa.
Brian Ferentz is an American football coach and former player. Following his collegiate career at the University of Iowa,as an offensive lineman,Ferentz was in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons in 2006 and New Orleans Saints in 2007. Following his playing career,Ferentz began a coaching tenure. Ferentz coached in the NFL for the New England Patriots from 2008 to 2011. Serving as the tight ends coach for the Patriots in 2011,Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski set NFL records for receptions,yards,and touchdowns by tight ends,and Gronkowski became the first tight end in NFL history to lead the league in touchdown receptions. Ferentz then began a coaching tenure at Iowa in 2012.
Willis Allen "Bill" Glassgow graduated from Shenandoah Iowa high school. Willis was an American football player and attorney. He played halfback for the University of Iowa from 1927 to 1929,was selected as a first-team All-American in 1929,and received the 1929 Chicago Tribune Silver Football as the best football player in the Big Ten Conference. He played two seasons of professional football in the National Football League for the Portsmouth Spartans in 1930 and the Chicago Cardinals in 1931. He practiced law in Iowa from 1933 to 1959,including two terms as the Page County Attorney (1935–1939) and three terms as the Linn County Attorney (1951–1957).

In their second season under head coach Hayden Fry,the Hawkeyes finished in fourth place in the Big Ten Conference,compiled a 4–7 record,and were outscored by their opponents,238 to 154. The team played its home games in Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City,Iowa.
