Broken Spoke Records was an American country music record label based in Austin, Texas. [1] Its owner, James White, was also the owner of the Broken Spoke dance hall in Austin, founded in 1964. [2] He founded the record label in an effort to broaden the reach of South Austin dance hall music. [1]
Its first release was the 1989 album Pure Country by fiddler and bandleader Alvis Crow, co-founder of the label. [1] By 1992, Crow had released four albums with Broken Spoke Records, including Cowboy I. [2]
