Bromheads Jacket (briefly Bromheads) are a three-piece British post punk band originating from Sheffield, England.
Bromheads formed in Sheffield in 2005, following the split of a band called Fixated. Although often compared to other Sheffield bands who found fame around the same time, such as Arctic Monkeys and Milburn, the band is heavier than others in their scene. Their style also differs due to singer Tim Hampton's southern England accent (he was raised in Yateley, Hampshire).
The band released the singles "Woolley Bridge", "What Ifs + Maybes", "Trip to the Golden Arches"', "Lesley Parlafitt", and "Speaker Box", all released on the Marquis Chacha label. They went on several tours of the UK, and also played across Europe, including in Spain (at the Summercase Festival), Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands. In 2005, they joined the nationwide Club NME tour, and played at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas.
Their first album, Dits from the Commuter Belt , was released on 13 November 2006, and was followed by a tour of over 30 gigs around the UK supported by the Middlesbrough group The Oxfam Glamour Models. They have also played at the London Calling festival in Amsterdam on three occasions, twice in 2006 and once in 2008.
In 2006, the band recorded a cover of The Streets' single "When You Wasn't Famous", which was released on the b-side of the song's 7". The single reached number 8 in the UK charts.
Their song "Fight Music for the Fight" was featured in the video game Burnout Dominator , as well as its successor Burnout Paradise [1] on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Their second album, On The Brain , was released on 22 September 2008.
In September 2009, the band released the single "Boots" (a cover of "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'") as a free download on their official website, but under the name Bromheads, dropping the name word Jacket, as a result of losing the bass player Jono West. Tim Hampton and Dan Potter said they would continue as a two-piece band. It was then confirmed that the band would release a free single every month for a year, finishing in November 2010 with their final free song, "Chocolate Factory". In December 2010, they released, as Bromheads, their third album, called The Lamp Sessions , with 10 original tracks from the last 12 months available singles.
In late 2012, the band released the EP Holding the Gun and announced that they were working on a new album to be released the following year. Their fourth album, Choro, which contained a new song "Gonna Let You Melt", was released on 15 April 2013, available to download at their website.
In 2024, Bromheads are back with the Jacket. As written on their new website:
"When Bromheads Jacket emerged as a key member of the Sheffield indie scene of the noughties, nobody knew how to pigeon hole them. Lead singer and songwriter Tim Hampton sang, not in with Yorkshire twang but in a thick Surrey accent. His band were heavier than everyone else. “The streets with guitars” was about the best the music press could come up with to describe what was, at that point a new sound.
Fast forward 18 years and a plethora of post punk bands have adopted the sound. Some like the brilliant, Idles have gone on to enjoy great success in the genre.
Bromheads Jackets meanwhile spectacularly imploded in a haze of glorious self sabotage. Hampton’s honest assessment is that they “fucked it up”. It’s hard to disagree. Now, they’re back with a bunch of new material, sounding better than ever to rightfully reclaim their title as forerunners to the modern post punk scene. Some bands are incredibly popular. Others are important and influential. Bromheads Jacket 2.0 might yet be both."

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is the fourth studio album by American rock band Blink-182, released on June 12, 2001, by MCA Records. The band had spent much of the previous year traveling and supporting their previous album Enema of the State (1999), which launched their mainstream career. The album's title is a tongue-in-cheek pun on male masturbation, and its cover art has icons for each member of the trio: an airplane, a pair of pants, and a jacket. It is the band's final release through MCA.

Timothy Ross Armstrong is an American musician, songwriter and record producer. Known for his distinctive voice, he is the singer/guitarist for the punk rock band Rancid and hip hop/punk rock supergroup Transplants. Prior to forming Rancid, Armstrong was in the ska punk band Operation Ivy.

Brody Dalle is an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. She began playing music in her adolescence and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18, where she founded the punk rock band The Distillers. The group released three albums before disbanding in 2006. She began another project, Spinnerette, which released an eponymous album in 2009. In 2014, she released Diploid Love, her first album under her solo name.
The Stills were a Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2000 and disbanded in 2011.
The Futureheads are an English post-punk band from Sunderland, formed in 2000. The band consists of Ross Millard, David "Jaff" Craig and brothers Barry Hyde and Dave Hyde (drums). Their name comes from the title of the Flaming Lips album Hit to Death in the Future Head. The band's influences include new wave and post-punk bands such as Gang of Four, Devo, XTC, Wire and Fugazi.

Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation, or Thee SPC, is an independent record label based in Sheffield, UK. It is one of the most influential labels in the Yorkshire area, having given early breaks and support to many bands in the so-called New Yorkshire scene. The label was formed by Markie Mofo, Rob Chuck, Darren Chuck and Missy Tassles; all one-time members of bands including Velodrome 2000, The Motherfuckers and Chuck, Mark went on to be in The Parallellograms and The Mini Skips whilst Missy has continued in bands Flying Wing, Black Light Ray, The Sleazoids performed briefly with The Wedding Present and solo as The Girl Next Door. The SPC label has an extensive catalogue; their trademarks are thick, coloured vinyl and sleevenotes written in a comical Victorian style. They used to broadcast a weekly radio show on the internet station Sheffield Live.
Stephen Patrick Mackey was an English musician and record producer best known as the bass guitarist for the Britpop band Pulp, which he joined in 1989. As a record producer, he produced songs and albums by M.I.A., Florence + the Machine, The Long Blondes and Arcade Fire.
Harrisons were a four-piece guitar band from Hillsborough in Sheffield, England. They were one of the leading bands in the so-called New Yorkshire scene, along with fellow Sheffielders Arctic Monkeys, Milburn, The Long Blondes and Bromheads Jacket. Harrisons were: Jubby Taylor, Ben Stanton (guitar), Ashley Birch (bass), and Mark White (drums).
Dits From The Commuter Belt is the name of the debut album by the Sheffield band Bromheads Jacket. The album was released on November 13, 2006 in the UK on the Marquis Cha Cha record label. It was leaked onto the Internet on November 10.

Foxes Faux were an English band that play a mixture of folk, punk and rock music. They formed in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England and played their first gig at Victoria Hall in their home town in January 2009. Originally, they choose to busk or play acoustically over traditional gigs. They also have become well known for playing additional acoustic sets after their typical PA gigs have finished. Since adding a rock rhythm section, they have almost exclusively played pub and club gigs.
The Dead 60s were an English ska punk band from Liverpool. The band's sound is a mixture of punk rock, ska, dub and reggae. They have taken influences from artists such as King Tubby, Jackie Mittoo, Gang of Four and A Certain Ratio.
Reverend and the Makers are an English rock band from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The band is fronted by Jon McClure, nicknamed "The Reverend". Their debut album, The State of Things (2007), helped them gain success in Britain and spawned the UK top 10 single "Heavyweight Champion of the World". The band released their second album, A French Kiss in the Chaos (2009), which led to them being invited to support Oasis on their final tour, playing venues such as Wembley Stadium. The band's third studio album, @Reverend_Makers, was released in 2012, their fourth studio album, ThirtyTwo, was released in 2014 which had more electronic and dance music influences. These were followed by Mirrors in 2015 and The Death of a King in 2017 which showcased a hard rock and folk influenced sound. Their seventh album, the soul and R&B inflected Heatwave in the Cold North was released in 2023 and became the band's first Top 10 album in the UK in 16 years.
