Brooklyn DA is a six-part American news documentary series which aired on CBS. It follows the prosecutors of the Kings County District Attorney's office in Brooklyn, New York. [2] The series premiered on May 28, 2013. [3]

One of the largest district attorney's (DA) offices in the United States, the prosecutors routinely face cases of murder, mobsters, unscrupulous judges, political corruption, and young girls trafficked as sex slaves. [4] The series was created by CBS News veteran Patti Aronofsky, and it is produced by the same team who produces 48 Hours . [5]

As a member of the Brooklyn North Homicide Squad, he and his longtime partner Stephen Chmil built a reputation for obtaining convictions in difficult cases. Since 2013, Scarcella has received extensive and sustained publicity for multiple allegations of investigative misconduct that resulted in false testimony against crime suspects, meaning that innocent parties could have served long prison terms and guilty individuals could have gone free because of wrongful procedures.

Kenneth "Ken" R. Kratz is a former American lawyer who served as district attorney of Calumet County, Wisconsin. He gained attention for trying a highly publicized homicide case, State of Wisconsin v. Steven Avery (2007), in which Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were both convicted. The trial served as the subject of Making a Murderer (2015), a 10-episode documentary series produced by Netflix.

Brooklyn D.A. was a six-part television mini-series that focused on "assistant district attorneys and other underlings of Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes. It aired on CBS prior to the 2013 primary election. In defense of charges for having violated equal-time provisions CBS claimed that it was a news series.

John Michael Ryan is an American lawyer from New York who served as acting Queens County District Attorney. Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, he attended St. John's University and its law school. Joining the Queens District Attorney's office as an intern in 1972, he worked there before joining the state attorney general's office, where he led the investigation of the Tawana Brawley rape allegations. Shortly after the appointment of Richard Brown in 1991, he returned to Queens, serving in the District Attorney's office for the next 28 years.
