California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), also known in athletics as Long Beach State University (LBSU), is a public teaching-focused institution in Long Beach, California. The 322-acre campus is the second largest in the California State University system (CSU). The university enrolls around 35,843 undergraduate students and 5,346 graduate students as of fall 2024. The graduate programs include master's degrees, credentials, post-baccalaureate certificates, and doctoral programs. CSULB is classified as an "R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity". The university offers four doctoral programs: Educational Leadership (Ed.D.), Engineering and Computational Mathematics (Ph.D.), Physical Therapy (DPT) and Nursing Practice (DNP).
Strayer University is a private for-profit university headquartered in Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1892 as Strayer's Business College and later became Strayer College, before being granted university status in 1998.

On December 5, 2018, Brightwood's parent company, Education Corporation of America, announced unexpectedly via an email that all of its schools would be closing in two business days. Staff were terminated without legally required notice.

All Art Institute schools closed on September 30, 2023.
The California Culinary Academy (CCA) was a for-profit school, and an affiliate of Le Cordon Bleu located in San Francisco, California. Danielle Carlisle established the school in 1977 to train chefs using the European education model. The original location on the corner of Fremont and Howard Street in the South of Market area of San Francisco, was located in the remodeled, top-floor, cafeteria in the Del Monte headquarters. The academy trained more than 15,000 people for restaurant careers through its 30-week baking and pastry chef program and 16-month culinary arts degree program. It was purchased by Career Education Corporation in 1999.
Apollos University was a private for-profit online university headquartered in Great Falls, Montana. It was accredited by the Distance Education Accreditation Commission (DEAC).
Lincoln Tech is an American group of for-profit postsecondary vocational institutions headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey. Each campus is owned and operated by Lincoln Educational Services Corporation, a provider of career-oriented post-secondary education.
The University of Silicon Valley (USV) is a private for-profit university in San Jose, California, in Silicon Valley. Founded in 1887 as Cogswell Technical School, and later known as Cogswell Polytechnical College. It was the first technical training institution in the Western United States and one of only two private universities, along with Stanford University, that were originally guaranteed a tax exemption in the Californian Constitution. USV is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. Programs at Cogswell range from digital media to engineering, with an emphasis on digital animation, audio and music production, and video game design.
The California State University, Long Beach College of Engineering is CSULB's third-largest college, with 2022 enrollment of nearly 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The college is led by Dr. Jinny Rhee, who was appointed Dean in July 2021, after serving as Associate Dean of the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering at San Jose State University. The college was led by Interim Dean Tracy Bradley Maples from 2020 to 2021, and Dean Forouzan Golshani from 2007 to 2020. The college's mission is "to develop innovators who design and implement practical solutions to meet the ever-changing societal challenges of Engineering." The college celebrates the graduation of more than 1,000 new engineers each year.
International Education Corporation (IEC) is a for-profit higher education company in the United States. It is the parent company of UEI College, United Education Institute, Florida Career College, U.S. Colleges, and Sage Truck Driving Schools. The institutions are for-profit career colleges.
