Edinburg is a city in and the county seat of Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 74,569 as of the 2010 census, and in 2016 the estimated population was 87,650.

They are located in Corpus Christi, Texas, and are named for the city's association with fishing. The team's ownership group is headed by Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan; the team's CEO, Reid Ryan, is Nolan's oldest son. The Hooks play their home games at Whataburger Field, which opened in 2005 and is located on Corpus Christi's waterfront.

United League Baseball was an independent baseball league that operated in Texas. The league operated from 2006 to 2009. The league then temporarily merged with the Northern League and the Golden Baseball League to form the North American League from 2011–2012. However, after the North American League folded at the end of the 2012 season, ULB was reformed. It dissolved for a second time in January 2015.

Joseph Mikulik, born October 30, 1963 in Weimar, Texas, is a former minor league baseball player and the former manager of the Asheville Tourists and Myrtle Beach Pelicans minor league baseball teams. He is now the manager of the Frisco RoughRiders, AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The 5' 11" right-handed outfielder never rose above AAA baseball, but was a key player in the Tucson Toros' first Pacific Coast League championship in 1991. During 2007, his eighth season with the Tourists, Mikulik, who already held the team record for most games managed, became the team's all-time leader in managerial wins.
The Bay Area Toros was a professional baseball team based in Texas City, Texas, in the United States. The Toros were a member of the Continental Baseball League, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball. From the 2008 season to 2009, the Toros played their home games at Robinson Stadium. In 2010, the Toros suspended operations, announcing they could return for the 2011 season. The Toros were the first minor league baseball team in the Houston metropolitan area since the 1970s.
The Reno Aces are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They are located in Reno, Nevada, and play their home games at Greater Nevada Field which opened in 2009. The Aces won the PCL championship in 2012 and went on to win the Triple-A National Championship Game.
The Tijuana Cimarrones were a professional independent baseball franchise based in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. They were originally a minor league baseball team in Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, but joined the Golden Baseball League as an expansion team in 2009. The team started play at Estadio Nacional de Tijuana in 2010, which was the last year of play for the Golden Baseball League. In 2011, the Golden League and two others consolidated to form the North American League, but the Cimarrones did not participate in that league. The Tijuana Embajadores was a proposed team from Tijuana that had at one time been scheduled to participate in the North American League (NAL), but that team also failed to start the season with the NAL.

The 2012–13 Real Phoenix season was the first and only season of the Real Phoenix professional indoor soccer club. Real Phoenix, a Southwestern Division team in the Professional Arena Soccer League, played their first six home games in the Barney Family Sports Complex in the greater Phoenix suburb of Queen Creek, Arizona. The team played the final two home games of the season at the Arizona Sports Complex in Glendale, Arizona. The team was led by general manager Rosario Lopez Jr., head coach Kevin Grub, and assistant coach Rodolfo Hernandez.
The Brownsville Charros were a minor league baseball team, based in Brownsville, Texas. The team played as the Brownsville Brownies from 1910-1911 in the Southwest Texas League before shutting down. They were revived in 1928 and then became the Charros in 1938 in the Texas Valley League. The team returned again in 1939 as part of the Rio Grande Valley League and moved to the Gulf Coast League in 1951.

RGV Barracudas FC is an American soccer club based in Hidalgo, Texas. Founded in 2004 as an amateur team, the men's indoor squad made its professional debut at the Barracudas Sports Complex as the Brownsville Barracudas in the Major Arena Soccer League during the 2014–15 season. The club signed Luis Ángel Landín the following year, and that season advanced to the Division Final vs. Las Vegas Legends after his golden goal against Atlético Baja at Tijuana.
