Bruce Dellis is an American film director and screenwriter based in Tempe, AZ. He has written and directed several award-winning short films and features.

Career

In 2006, Dellis won two Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards for The Intervention of Brad. [1] That same year, he was named Arizona Filmmaker of the Year by the Phoenix Film Foundation. [2]

In 2007, he wrote the feature-length film Netherbeast Incorporated , which premiered at the 2007 AFI/Dallas Film Festival. [3] The offbeat comedy stars Darrell Hammond, Judd Nelson, Robert Wagner, Jason Mewes, Dave Foley, Steve Burns, and Amy Davidson.

Dellis won two more Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards in 2008 for his offbeat short film on the PTA called Fuller PTA: Better Than Stepping on a Rusty Nail. [4]

In all, Dellis has been nominated for a total of 14 Rocky Mountain Emmys, winning five. [5]

Dellis wrote and directed a chapter of the anthology film Locker 13 . [6] The chapter, titled "The Benevolent Byzantine Order of the Nobles of the Enigmatic Oracle", stars David Huddleston, Bart Johnson, and Curtis Armstrong. Locker 13 was released in 2014. [7]

In 2019, Dellis wrote and directed "Raising Buchanan," a feature film starring René Auberjonois, Amanda Melby, M. Emmet Walsh, Cathy Shim, Terence Bernie Hines, and Robert Ben Garant. [8] It concerns a woman who steals the body of President James Buchanan with the hope of ransoming him for a large payoff, but finds that no one is particularly interested in getting him back. Dellis is a faculty associate at Arizona State University teaching screenwriting. [35] He is married with one child.

Some teens in the film profess that they will eventually become baptized as adults in the Amish community. If they are baptized, then leave the church, they will be shunned by family and friends; one girl recounts her experience of this.

Netherbeast Incorporated is a 2007 American comedy horror film directed by Dean Ronalds, written by Bruce Dellis, and starring Darrell Hammond and Steve Burns. It is an undead office comedy concerning a telephone company in Arizona staffed entirely by flesh-eating, vampire-like employees who refer to themselves as "Netherfolk". Historical figures such as President James Garfield and Alexander Graham Bell are woven into the story. The film premiered at the 2007 AFI/Dallas Film Festival.

Raising Buchanan is a 2019 American comedy film produced by Amanda Melby, Joe Gruberman, Chadwick Struck and Cathy Shim, written and directed by Bruce Dellis. The film stars René Auberjonois in the role of the title character, James Buchanan, the 15th President of the United States and was his final role released in his lifetime. He died December, 2019. The film was Bruce Dellis' first full-length feature. Raising Buchanan was filmed in and near Phoenix, Arizona.

The 47th Daytime Emmy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), honored the best in U.S. daytime television programming in 2019. The NATAS originally planned to hold it for over three nights for the first time on June 12–14, 2020, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California.

Amanda Melby is an American actress and film producer. She is the host of the Emmy-winning series Screen Wars, and the star and producer of the film Raising Buchanan.
