Bruno Soares Reis (born May 17,1977) is a Brazilian politician who is the 70th current mayor of Salvador,Bahia,having served since 2021. He was previously vice-mayor under ACM Neto,to whom he is a close associate of,from 2017 to 2021,and a state deputy in Bahia from 2011 to 2016. [1] [2] He is currently affiliated with União Brasil. Reis was born in Petrolina,Pernambuco,the son of João Batista Cavalcanti Reis and Márcia Beatriz Ribeiro Soares. He graduated with a law degree from the Catholic University of Salvador (UCSal),with further research in management at the Fundação Getulio Vargas,and a master's degree in Development and Social Management from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). He became involved in politics starting in the 1990s when he became a trainee and eventually took up the position as assessor in the municipal assembly of Salvador. [2] He did so while still at university. During this period,he became involved with the Young PFL branch in Bahia,where he met ACM Neto and became integrated into his political sphere. [2] When ACM Neto became a federal deputy in 2002,Reis became his political advisor. In 2010,Reis was elected as a state deputy in Bahia,being reelected in 2014.
Reis was elected vice-mayor in 2016,with ACM Neto as mayor. [2] In 2019,he became ACM Neto's secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works. He previously had been the secretary for Social Promotion,Sport,and Combatting Poverty. In 2020,he was elected in his own right as mayor of Salvador,running with PDT member Ana Paula Matos as vice-mayor. Their campaign ticket was the most voted among all mayoral races that year in terms of the proportional vote in the first round,with 64.20% of the vote. They won in a landslide against multiple challengers by a 40-point margin,with the second-place candidate from the Workers' Party,Denice Santiago,coming in second place with 18.86% of the vote,and Pastor Sargento Isidório of Avante,coming in third with 5.33% of the vote. Antônio Carlos Peixoto de Magalhães Neto,commonly known as ACM Neto,is a Brazilian lawyer and politician. He was the national president of the Democrats (DEM),and is currently general secretary of the Brazil Union. He is the grandson of deceased Senator and Governor of Bahia Antônio Carlos Magalhães (ACM),nephew of Luís Eduardo Magalhães and son of Antônio Carlos Magalhães Júnior,and political inheritor of one of the most powerful political families of the country. He was elected mayor of Salvador in 2012 and reelected in 2016. During both of his terms as mayor he was rated the most popular mayor in Brazil.
The 2020 São Paulo municipal election took place in the city of São Paulo,Brazil,with the first round taking place on 15 November 2020 and the second round taking place on 29 November 2020. Voters voted to elect the Mayor,the Vice Mayor and 55 city councillors for the administration of the city. The result was a 2nd round victory for incumbent Mayor Bruno Covas of the Brazilian Social Democratic Party (PSDB),winning 3,169,121 votes and a share of 59,38% of the popular vote,defeating political activist Guilherme Boulos of the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL),who took 2,168,109 votes and a share of 40.62% of the popular vote.
Raquel Teixeira Lyra Lucena is a Brazilian lawyer,politician and the current governor of Pernambuco since 2023. Lyra was mayor of Caruaru from 2017 to 2022. A member of a political family,she previously served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco. She is affiliated to the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) but was a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB).

The merger resulted in the biggest party in Brazil,and was approved by Brazil's Superior Electoral Court on 8 February 2022.
The 2022 Bahia state election took place in the state of Bahia,Brazil on 2 October 2022. The elections saw voters choose a Governor and Vice Governor,one Senator,39 representatives for the Chamber of Deputies,and 63 Legislative Assembly members. The incumbent Governor,Rui Costa,of the Workers' Party (PT),was not eligible for a third term since he ran for governor in 2014 and 2018. In a significant upset,PT nominee and Secretary of Education Jerônimo led Mayor of Salvador ACM Neto in the first round of elections despite the vast majority of registered opinion polls indicating the leadership or even outright victory of Neto. In the end,Jerônimo obtained 49.45% of valid votes to ACM's 40.8%;less than a percentage point within of winning the election in the first round. Nevertheless,as no candidate obtained a majority of the vote,there will be a second round election on October 30 2022.
Wagner Sousa Gomes,also known as Capitão Wagner is a captain of the Military Police Reserve of the State of Cearáand a Brazilian politician affiliated to Brazil Union (UNIÃO). He was a federal deputy in office from 2019 to 2023.
Jerônimo Rodrigues Souza is a Brazilian indigenous politician,agricultural professor,and bureaucrat who was elected Governor of Bahia in 2022 election. Winning against ACM Neto in an upset,Jerônimo,a professor at State University of Feira de Santana,became the first self declared indigenous governor in the history of Brazil. He previously served as an advisor in technology to Governor Jaques Wagner,as an advisor to the Rousseff government,and as head of multiple ministries in the government of Rui Costa,rising through the ranks of governmental management. He is a member of the Workers' Party.
Veneziano Vital do Rêgo Segundo Neto is a lawyer and a federal senator of Brazil representing the state of Paraíba. Since February 2021,he has served as the first vice president of the Federal Senate. Vital do Rêgo is a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB).
Geraldo Alves Ferreira Júnior is a Brazilian lawyer and politician who has been the vice-governor of the state of Bahia since 2023. A member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement,he was previously a councilor for Salvador from 2013 to 2023. Geraldo Júnior and Jerônimo Rodrigues were elected in 2022 with 4,480,464 votes,or 52.79% percent of the vote.
Rogério Auto Teófilo was a Brazilian lawyer,teacher,administrator and politician. As a member of the Liberal Front Party,he was a State Deputy and later Federal Deputy for Alagoas. He later switched to the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB),in which he serve as mayor of Arapiraca from 2017 until his death.
