Warren Rose (born October 19th,1982), [1] known professionally as Bruse Wane is a Jamaican American rapper, and songwriter that was born on the Caribbean island of Jamaica. He was raised in the South Bronx section of New York City. [2] He is known for his prominent Hip-Hop songs, guest music appearances and collaborations with The Universal Hip Hop Museum and Kurtis Mantronik. Bruse Wane began his rise to prominence in Hip-Hop in 2014, with the release of two songs. Home Of The Spitters, which featured Keith Murray, [3] and Beast Inside that featured Sean Price. [4] He is also the lead emcee and member of the Hip-Hop group Mantronix. [5]

Early life

Warren Rose was born on October 19, 1982 on the Caribbean island of Jamaican. [6] [7] He immigrated to American and grew up in the South Bronx section of New York City in Bronxdale Houses. [8] It is there he was introduced to Hip-Hop music and culture, as Bronxdale Houses was also the home of one of Hip-Hop's founding fathers Disco King Mario. [9]

Career

Beginnings (2003–2014)

During a face to face interview with British Hip Hop artist Blade (musician) Bruse Wane stated that he has been creating Hip-Hop music since the 1990s. [10] His New York City based record label Wane Enterprises was founded in 2003. [11] In a past interview he stated his stage name Bruse Wane stemmed from his early days as a New York City live events promoter. [12] His 2014 appearances on the songs Home of The Spitters with Keith Murray and Beast Inside with Sean Price is seen as his professional debut. [13] [14] [15] in 2014 the national American television network fuseTV listed Bruse Wane on their list of 9 professional rappers named after comic book characters. [16]

Breaking Through, & Venom (2015–2016)

In 2015 Bruse Wane released the song Venom which features Sean Price & Chris Rivers. [17] The song appears on Bruse Wane’s Earl Manigault of Rap Album. [18] [19] To many Venom is the song that truly established Bruse Wane's name in Hip-Hop. [20] Sean Price's verse on Venom is widely regarded as his last recorded verse before his death on August 8, 2015. [21] Upon Venom's release, Hip-Hop's premiere media outlet HipHopDx declared the song an instant classic. [22] The song was also featured on Hip-Hop producer DJ Premier's multimedia website, Premier Was Here. On his website it was also noted that Sean Price's appearance on Venom was more than likely his last guest verse, marking the songs historical significance. [23] [24]

Working With The Hip Hop Museum (2017–2018)

In 2017 Bruse Wane appeared on the Universal Hip Hop Museums historic 16 Bars 4 Hip Hop Compilation Album. The Album was distributed  through Sony Red Distribution. Bruse Wane’s songs Ol Head & Stone Age appeared on the album. Other notable Hip-Hop artist that appeared on the album includes Rah Digga, Chris Rivers, Chip Fu of the Fu-Schnickens, & Hakim Green of Channel Live. [25] On January 16, 2018 the international law firm Proskauer honored its lawyers and staff from offices across the United States at its tenth annual Golden Gavel Awards Ceremony. One of the highlights of that year’s ceremony was a live performance by then rising hip hop artist Bruse Wane. Bruse Wane performed one of his songs from the 16 Bars 4 Hip Hop album for the Firm’s pro bono client, the Universal Hip Hop Museum. [26] [27]

Killa Sound Boy (2019–2020)

in 2019 Bruse Wane released his song Killa Soundboy. [28] [29] The song featured a guest appearance by Papoose. [30] [31] Dj Kay Slay broke the song on his street sweepers radio show during an in person on air interview with Bruse Wane. [32] The song was well received by Hip-Hop fans Dj's and tastemakers. It was during this same interview that Bruse Wane and Dj Kay Slay discovered they both shared a mutual upbringing in Bronxdale Houses. [33] During an interview he gave while on tour in London, Bruse Wane revealed  there were plans in the works for him and Dj Kay Slay to make music together. [34] However those plans were derailed by DJ Kay Slays’ death due to covid 19 complications. [35] [36] Killa Soundboy along with Venom is considered Bruse Wane's two most popular songs to date. [37]

Kurtis Mantronik (2023–present)

Bruse Wane met Kurtis Mantronik before the start of the 2019 global Pandemic at a music festival in Holland. At the time Kurtis Mantronik's group Mantronix was disbanded, but Mantronik wanted to make a return to producing Hip Hop music. After hearing some of Bruse Wane’s music Mantronik decided Bruse Wane was the perfect emcee to make his return to Hip-Hop music production with. [38] In 2023 Kurtis Mantronik returned to producing Hip-Hop records. [5] Mantronik reformed his group Mantronix and made Bruse Wane a member, lead vocalist and focal point of the group. [5] They released three Hip-Hop songs together. The songs were Money Talks, Era Of The AI, and "When The Doves Fly". The songs were released jointly by Mantronik and Bruse Wane through the Mantronix's classics label and Bruse Wane's Wane Enterprises Label. [39] Mantonik produced directed and edited three music videos for all the releases.The videos appear on the Mantronix Official YouTube channel , and total over a million views combined. [40]

Mantronix was an influential 1980s hip hop and electro funk music group from New York City. The band was formed by DJ Kurtis Mantronik and rapper MC Tee. The group is primarily remembered for its pioneering blend of old school hip hop, electronic, and club music. They underwent several genre and line-up changes during its seven-year existence between 1984 and 1991, and released five albums beginning with their 1985 debut The Album.

Kurtis el Khaleel, known by the stage name Kurtis Mantronik, is a Jamaican-born hip hop and electronic-music artist, DJ, remixer, and producer. He was the leader, DJ, and keyboardist of the influential 1980s hip hop and electro-funk group Mantronix. Teyon Isiah Winfree, better known by his stage name Vado, is an American rapper. He formed the hip hop duo U.N. with hometown native Cam'ron in 2009, with whom he has released two collaborative albums—Heat in Here Vol. 1 (2010) and Gunz n' Butta (2011)—and the Boss of All Bosses mixtape series. As a solo act, Vado signed with DJ Khaled's We the Best Music Group, an imprint of Cash Money and Republic Records in 2013 to release his debut commercial single, "My Bae" the following year. Keith Grayson, professionally known as DJ Kay Slay, was an American disc jockey (DJ) from New York City. He is referred to by The New York Times as "Hip Hop's One-Man Ministry of Insults". He released four studio albums: The Streetsweeper, Vol. 1 (2003), The Streetsweeper, Vol. 2 (2004), The Champions: North Meets South, and More Than Just a DJ (2010). Known for extensive curation of prominent figures in East Coast hip hop, his albums were met with success in the regional market; his first two were released by Columbia Records. The Nacirema Dream is the debut studio album by American rapper Papoose. The album was first announced to be released under Jive Records in 2006, but after many delays and label issues, it was released on March 26, 2013, through Honorable Records and Fontana Records. The album features guest appearances from Mobb Deep, Erykah Badu, Jim Jones, Jadakiss, Remy Ma, Mavado, DJ Premier and Ron Browz among others. The album was supported by the three singles "On Top of My Game" featuring Mavado, "What's My Name" featuring Remy Ma, and "Get At Me" featuring Ron Browz. The Justice Sonia Sotomayor Houses and Community Center is a housing project in Soundview, The Bronx, New York City. Formerly known as the Bronxdale Houses, the project was renamed in honor of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who had spent part of her childhood in the development, in June 2010. The complex was originally opened in January 1955. The 28-building complex includes close to 1,500 apartments that house about 3,500 residents. The 30.77-acre development is bordered by Bruckner Boulevard and Watson, Soundview and Leland Avenues.
