Robert David O'Brien was an American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons. He played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs, where he won the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Award in 1938. He was the fourth overall pick of the 1939 NFL Draft. O'Brien was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955.

Lester Michael Brumbelow was an American football and basketball player and coach. He played football and basketball for Texas Christian University from 1927 to 1929 and was the captain and most valuable player of the TCU Horned Frogs undefeated 1929 football team that won the school's first Southwest Conference championship. He later served as an assistant football coach and head basketball coach at TCU from 1936 to 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the athletics program at the Navy Pre-Flight School, and attained the rank of lieutenant commander. After the war, he served as an assistant football coach at the University of Mississippi from 1946 to 1948. From 1950 to 1956 he was the head football coach at Texas Western College, now the University of Texas at El Paso; he also served as the school's athletic director from 1950 to 1959.

The TCU Horned Frogs are the athletic teams that represent Texas Christian University. The 18 varsity teams participate in NCAA Division I and in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) for football, competing mostly in the Big 12 Conference. The school was a founding member of the Southwest Conference and was a member of the Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA (C-USA), and the Mountain West Conference before joining the Big 12. Two TCU teams participate outside the Big 12 in sports not sponsored by that conference. The rifle team competes in the Patriot Rifle Conference, and the beach volleyball team moved to C-USA for 2023–24 after having been in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.
Jim Swink was an All-American halfback at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Swink grew up in Rusk, Texas, which inspired his nickname, "the Rusk Rambler". He is remembered as one of the greatest running backs in Southwest Conference history and led the Horned Frogs to win consecutive conference championships in 1955 and 1956. These victories resulted in trips to the Cotton Bowl Classic.
Raymond "Rags" Matthews was an American football player at Texas Christian University (TCU) in the 1920s. A Fort Worth, Texas native, Matthews attended Polytechnic High School before TCU. He lettered three times under coach Matty Bell, during which the TCU Horned Frogs posted a cumulative record of 17–5–5. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player after the 1926 and 1927 seasons, and was selected to play in the Shrine East-West All-Star Game as a senior in 1927, the first year players from the Southwest Conference were included.

He was drafted by the Eagles in the 13th round of the 1939 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas Christian University (TCU) and attended Masonic Home School in Fort Worth, Texas. Allie was the first player in Texas high school history to be voted all state three times in high school. While at TCU, he played with both Sammy Baugh and Davey O’Brien. Later, Allie coached for TCU, and his most prized recruit and player was Bob Lilly. He was inducted into the TCU Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame in 1970. He was born in Crosby, Texas.
Johnny Ray Swaim was an NCAA Division I head basketball coach from 1967 to 1977. He attended high school in Graham, Texas, where he lettered in four sports: basketball, baseball, football, and track. He was recruited by several Texas universities, but chose to attend Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas on a full four year basketball scholarship. While at TCU Swaim was a part of five Southwest Conference Championships as a player and coach and led his team to two NCAA Division I Men's Basketball tournaments. In 1968 and 1970 he was voted the Southwest Conference Coach of the Year. In 1975, he was named to TCU's 60-year All-time Basketball Team, and in 1983, he was inducted into the TCU Letterman's Hall of Fame.
Harry E. Kirchner Jr. was an American college basketball player. He played for the TCU Horned Frogs from 1956 to 1959.
Maxwell Duggan is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at TCU, winning several national awards after being part of the team that made it to the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship game.
Carven Holcombe is an American former basketball player known for his college career at Texas Christian University (TCU) between 1983 and 1987. He also played professionally in Belgium, France, and Israel at the shooting guard position.
