Bryn Chapman Parish (born 18 August 1997) is an Australian singer and actor. Born in Sydney, he began his career on the stage in France, and had his film debut with an uncredited role in Angelina Jolie's war drama Unbroken (2014). Throughout following years, he had roles in a number of short films and later had his breakthrough playing Spider in the Netflix comedy-drama series Heartbreak High (2022present). The latter won him an AACTA Award.

Career

After first gaining interest in acting in a traveling production of Cyrano de Bergerac , Chapman Parish made his professional acting debut with an uncredited role in the biographical war film Unbroken (2014), directed by Angelina Jolie. He had a number of roles in short films during the late 2010s and a small role in the television series Mr Inbetween (2021), before his breakthrough in the Netflix comedy drama series Heartbreak High (2022present), a reboot of the eponymous 1990s series. Chapman Parish's role in the series won him the AACTA Audience Choice Award for Best Actor. [1]

Chapman Parish is also the frontman of the alt rock band Mac the Knife. [2] [3]

The series follows the students and teachers of Hartley High as they navigate racial tensions in Australia, high school romances, and all sorts of teen angst. It features an ensemble cast including Ayesha Madon, Thomas Weatherall, James Majoos, Chloé Hayden, Asher Yasbincek, Will McDonald, Josh Heuston, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend, Chika Ikogwe, Scott Major and Rachel House. Asher Yasbincek is an Australian actress, known for her role as Harper McLean in the Netflix series Heartbreak High. Yasbincek made her television debut in the recurring role of Rose in serial drama The Heights. She then appeared in the comedy-drama film Rams (2020) and had a supporting role in How to Please a Woman (2022). Yasbincek secured her breakthrough role in Heartbreak High while she was working in traffic control. She shaved her head on-screen for the role in one of her first scenes.
