The American Releasing Corporation was an American film distribution company active during the silent era. The company was founded in 1920, but was primarily active from 1922 until 1923, producing or handling films of a generally higher quality than many independent studios who specialized in Poverty Row second features.
Alkohol is a 1919 German silent drama film directed by Ewald André Dupont and Alfred Lind and starring Wilhelm Diegelmann, Ernst Rückert, and Georg H. Schnell. The film was begun by Lind but finished by Dupont. It was his first major melodrama, and represented a breakthrough in his career. The film's theme and setting foreshadow much of his later work. It was one in a series of "Enlightenment films" examining social issues, which were produced around the time. It premiered at the Marmorhaus in Berlin.

Founded in 1920 on the site of a former airfield, they were a centre of production during the Weimar and Nazi eras. Nearly four hundred films were made at Johannistal during the silent period. Sometimes known as the Jofa Studios, in 1929 they became the base of the newly established German major studio Tobis Film at the beginning of the sound era.
