Bury Academy Football Club was a football club based in Bury St Edmunds, England.

History

Ahead of the 1999–2000 season, Bury Academy were formed, gaining admission into the Essex Senior League. [1] Prior to their opening league game against Burnham Ramblers, the Daily Gazette described the club as a "young but very skilful, organised side, but they may find senior league football a little too physical". [2] Bury Academy subsequently lost the game 3–1. After losing their opening four games, conceding 15 and scoring twice, manager Joe Taylor resigned. In total, the club played eight games in all competitions, scoring twice and conceding 35 goals, before resigning from the Essex Senior League on 1 October 1999, the day before they were due to play East Ham United. Goram appeared in 43 international matches for Scotland and was selected for their squads at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, UEFA Euro 1992 and UEFA Euro 1996.

Colchester Gladiators

The Colchester Gladiators are an American Football team competing in the South East National League of British American Football League (BAFL). They play their home games at the Corporal Budd VC Gymnasium. The club was first formed in 1983 and entered senior competition in 1985 where they enjoyed a degree of success, winning the Budweiser League Premier Division playoffs in 1988 and only failing to make the post season playoffs on three occasions before the team folded in 1995. They reformed again in 2003 after a high-profile charity reunion match which featured TV presenter Dermot O'Leary. The Gladiators entered the BAFL the following year, gaining promotion in 2006 only to be relegated after just one season. The Gladiators went on to win the 2013 National League title after recording an unbeaten 13–0 season.

The 2015–16 season was Colchester United's 79th season in their history and their eighth consecutive season in League One, the third tier of English football.
