Bwenieve Records is a Kenyan-based record label founded by producer Agundabweni Akweyu and his wife Evelyn Wanjiru, a Kenyan gospel musician. The label produced hit songs for musicians such as Wanjiru, Gloria Muliro, Emmy Kosgei, Kambua, Tumaini [1] [2] and Martha Mwaipaja. [2]
Bwenieve Records was founded on May 5, 2010, in Nakuru Kenya, when producer Agundabweni Akweyu, working for a human resources firm, discovered Evelyn Wanjiru, who could not source a producer to record her music. Agundabweni decided to study music production online through YouTube tutorials so that he could record Evelyn. On May 5, 2010 Agundabweni resigned his job and teamed up with Wanjiru to start Bwenieve records. The name Bwenieve was derived from Agundabweni's and Evelyn's names (Bweni-Eve). Between 2010 and 2013, Bwenieve produced "Mazingira", [3] "Waweza", and "Mungu Mkuu", songs for Evelyn that did well and got a lot of radio and TV airplay. The success of the two songs was good for Bwenieve Records, and upcoming musicians gained confidence in the label. Songs like "Mungu yu mwema" [4] by Praise Makena, "Kiwango" [5] by Meisi Tamar and "Angalia Baba" by Rosemary Njagi were among the first few songs produced from Bwenieve during that period.
In 2014, Bwenieve records relocated to Nairobi and produced "Tulia", a collaboration between Vicky Kitonga and Wanjiru. In 2015, Tulia won a Groove Award in the Collaboration of the Year category. This resulted in a turnaround in the Kenyan gospel scene, drawing upcoming and established musicians to aspire to work with Bwenieve Records. Since then Bwenieve has produced songs for Emmy Kosgei, [6] Gloria Muliro, Kambua, [7] Tumaini, Mercy Masika, Size 8, Amani and more. Also Bwenieve is the producer of the live annual event known as Praise Atmosphere hosted by Evelyn Wanjiru.

Tribute Records is an American gospel music record label established in 1990. The label was co-founded by jazz musician and former pro basketball player Ben Tankard and George King. King owned Nashville based Diadem Music Group which produced Contemporary Christian music. Diadem's signature artist Bob Carlisle is best known for his hit song "Butterfly Kisses". Tribute became the urban contemporary gospel division of Diadem and home to several gospel music stars, most notably Tankard, Yolanda Adams, Twinkie Clark of The Clark Sisters and others. Tankard was executive producer and music producer on most of the early Tribute releases and his vision was to develop artists and pioneer a new smooth genre of music he coined as "gospeljazz". He featured Yolanda Adam's jazzy vocals on the album and concept video single " You Bring Out The Best In Me " on his 1994 release "Play Me In Your Key". The jazzy collaborations of Tankard and Adams produced major crossover success and brought the name of Tribute Records to the forefront. Office Depot produced a gospel style " Taking Care Of Business " commercial national ad campaign that was centered on Tribute Records, Tankard, and Adams and ran from 1994-1996.

Midnight Train is the fifth studio album by Kenyan Afropop band Sauti Sol. It was released by Universal Music Africa on June 5, 2020. Recorded in English, Swahili, and Luhya, the album comprises 13 tracks and is the band's first project released under the label. Sauti Sol dedicated the album to their fans and described it as a collaborative project with songwriters and producers. Midnight Train features collaborations with India Arie, Soweto Gospel Choir, Sho Madjozi, and Black Motion, among others. It explores themes of sobriety, personal insecurities, love, and hope.
