By My Standards (foaled March 22, 2016 ) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2019 Louisiana Derby [1] and the 2020 Alysheba Stakes.
By My Standards's first race was on November 24th, 2018, at Churchill Downs, where he came in second. [1]
He did not pick up his first win until four races into his career, when he won a Maiden Special Weight race on February 16th at Fair Grounds Race Course. [1]
On March 23rd, 2019, he scored an upset win at the 2019 Louisiana Derby. He came in at 22:1 odds and rallied in the stretch against Spinoff. The upset win gained him entry into the 2019 Kentucky Derby. [2] [3]
On May 4th, 2019, he competed in the 2019 Kentucky Derby. He was placed at 18:1 odds going into the race, coming a disappointing 11th place. [4] This was his final race of the 2019 season as he had hoof wall separation. [5]
He returned on February 9th, winning an Allowance Optional Claiming race at Fair Grounds. [5]
On March 21st, he won the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap, defeating Warrior's Charge and Mr. Freeze. [6]
He picked up another victory on May 2nd, winning the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap. He passed Warrior's Charge near the end of the race to win. [7]
On June 27th, he ran well but only came 2nd behind Tom's D'Etat in the Grade 2 Stephen Foster Stakes. W. Bret Calhoun, his trainer, said that Tom's d'Etat had surprised them with his performance and was not going to be beaten. [8]
By My Standards returned on August 1st in the 2020 Whitney Stakes against Code of Honor, Improbable, and Tom's d'Etat. The favorite Tom's d'Etat stumbled coming out of the starting gate, and Improbable won the race and By My Standards came second.
He then won the 2020 Alysheba Stakes over McKinzie, Mr. Freeze, and Owendale. This was his third Grade 2 win of the year.
His next start is likely to be the 2020 Breeders' Cup Classic.

Cigar, was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. Originally campaigned on turf tracks he showed useful but unremarkable form, but he emerged as an outstanding performer when switched to racing on dirt in 1995. In 1996, he became the first American racehorse racing against top-class competition to win 16 consecutive races since Triple Crown winner Citation did so between 1948 and 1950. Cigar retired as the leading money earner in Thoroughbred racing history and was later inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. After his retirement from racing he stood as a breeding stallion but proved to be infertile and was quickly retired from stud duties. He nevertheless enjoyed a long retirement at Kentucky Horse Park before dying at the age of 24.
The Breeders' Cup Classic is a Grade I Weight for Age thoroughbred horse race for 3-year-olds and older run at a distance of 1 1⁄4 miles (2,000 m) on dirt. It is held annually at a different racetrack as part of the Breeders' Cup World Championships in late October or early November. All of the races to date have been held in the United States except for the 1996 edition held at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada.

Calvin H. Borel is an American jockey in thoroughbred horse racing and rode the victorious mount in the 2007 Kentucky Derby, the 2009 Kentucky Derby and the 2010 Kentucky Derby. His 2009 Derby win with Mine That Bird was the second biggest upset in Derby history, and Borel's winning margin of 6 3⁄4 lengths was the greatest in Derby history since Assault won by 8 lengths in 1946. On May 1, 2009, Borel won the Kentucky Oaks aboard Rachel Alexandra, only the second time since 1993 that a jockey has won the Oaks-Derby combo, and just the seventh time overall a jockey has accomplished this feat in the same year. On May 16, 2009, Borel won the 2009 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico with thoroughbred filly Rachel Alexandra. In doing so, Borel became the first jockey to win the first two jewels of the Triple Crown on different mounts. Borel's nickname is "Bo'rail'" due to his penchant for riding close to the rail to save ground.
