Pradeep Kumar Rai, professionally known as Byakul Maila, is a Nepalese poet who composed the lyrics of the current Nepalese national anthem Sayaun Thunga Phulka .
His writing was selected to be the national anthem of the newly declared Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on 30 November 2006 out of 1272 submissions. The new national anthem was meant to be representative of the new era in the history of Nepal, after the abolition of monarchy in 2006. Amber Gurung composed music for the song. [1] [2] [3]
"Sayaun Thunga Phulka" is the national anthem of Nepal. It was officially adopted as the anthem on 3 August 2007 during a ceremony held at the conference hall of National Planning Commission, inside Singha Durbar, by the speaker of the interim parliament, Subash Chandra Nembang. The previous national anthem "Shriman Gambhir" was adopted in 1962 but was dropped following the treaty of the monarchy.
The Nationality law in Nepal are regulated primarily by 2015 Constitution of Nepal, Nepal Citizenship Act 2006 and Nepal Citizenship Regulations 2006. The Nepali Constitution regulates provisions for Nepali nationality in Part 2 from Article 10 to 15. The Nepal Citizenship Act 1964 was first promulgated on 28 February 1964 and provides for single citizenship for the entire country to inherit Nepali nationality. The Nepal Citizenship Act, 2006 was enacted on 26 November 2006. It repeals the 1964 Act and makes further provisions for the acquisition and termination of Nepali citizenship and related. Recently, after the 3rd amendment of the Citizenship Procedures, Non-Resident Nepali are also allowed to have citizenship with limited social, economic and cultural rights.
Marich Man Singh Shrestha was a Nepali politician and former Prime Minister of Nepal. He was born in 1942 in Khalanga Bazar, Salyan, Nepal. He served as the Prime Minister of Nepal from 15 June 1986 to 6 April 1990, and is remembered as the last Prime Minister of the Panchayat period and the Prime Minister during the 1989 Indian economic blockade on Nepal. Prior to that, he was the speaker of the Rastriya Panchayat from 1981 to 1985. He is one of the only two non-Khas Prime Ministers of Nepal, both the exceptions having been Newar Shresthas. He is the first Newar to have assumed the full title of the Prime Minister of Nepal, second if we count Gehendra Bahadur Rajbhandari who was acknowledged as an Acting Prime Minister.
