Bykea, stylized as BYKEA, is a Pakistani ride-hailing service and parcel delivery company based in Karachi. [1] [2] It was founded by Muneeb Maayr in 2016. [3]

History

Bykea was started in December 2016 in Karachi, Pakistan. [4] The company currently operates in four Pakistani cities: Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, & Rawalpindi. [5]

In 2018, Bykea partnered with Jazz, a Pakistan-based digital communications company, to provide enhanced digital connectivity and efficiency to users. [6] In 2018, Bykea and MJSF (Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation) joined for the Bikers Support Scheme. [7]

In 2019, Bykea raised $5.7 million in series A funding from local and international institutions. [8] [9]

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan, [10] Bykea had secured a $13 million investment. However, due to the government's ban on pillion riding to combat the virus, investors reneged on the deal. [11] [12]

Services

Bykea enables a crowdsourced network of motorbike owners to transport people, parcels, on-demand shopping, and payments within a city. [13] [14] [15] [16]

In early 2022, Bykea added rickshaws. In mid-2022, they started offering AC and non-AC in their ride-hailing service.

The Aurat Azadi March was started in 2018 in Pakistan by members of Women Democratic Front, other organizations like Women's Action Forum, Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls alliance, Young Teachers Association, Home-Based Women Workers Union, Awami Workers Party, Awami Jamhoori Party also joined the march on International Women's Day in Islamabad. Aurat Azadi March and Aurat March are organized by different groups of women since 2018. Aurat Azadi March is organized by group of socialist feminists whereas Aurat March is organized by group of liberal feminists. Aurat March was also started the same year by the group of individual women known as "Hum Aurtein" collective in Karachi and Lahore.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is the highest level of domestic Twenty20 cricket in Pakistan. The league is owned by the Pakistan Cricket Board and its first season was played in 2016. The league, when it started, included five teams: Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, and Lahore Qalandars. The third season of the league in 2018 saw the inclusion of Multan Sultans as the sixth team to compete in the tournament. The league has been organized every year since its first season and all the teams have won the trophy at least once. The first season of the PSL was won by Islamabad United, who were captained by Misbah ul Haq, who was also the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team at that time. Lahore Qalandars are the current champions of the PSL.
