C. Shanmugavelu is an Indian politician and former member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elected from Madathukulam constituency in 2011. [1] Previously, he was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Udumalpet constituency in 2001 and 2006 elections in which he served as a minister for a short period. [2] [3]

Shanmugavelu was sacked as Minister for Rural Industries in November 2011 as part of the third cabinet reshuffle in a five-month period by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. [4]

V. Karuppasamy Pandian is an Indian politician and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu. He is currently one of the prominent leader of the anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) party in Tirunelveli district.

The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.
