Womens basketball basketball played by women

Women's basketball is one of the few women's sports that developed in tandem with its men's counterpart. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges. From 1895 until 1970, the term "women's basketball" was also used to refer to netball, which evolved in parallel with modern women's basketball. It is mostly popular in America.

Cluj-Napoca City in Cluj County, Romania

Cluj-Napoca, commonly known as Cluj, is the fourth most populous city in Romania, and the seat of Cluj County in the northwestern part of the country. Geographically, it is roughly equidistant from Bucharest, Budapest and Belgrade. History

CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca is the oldest and the most successful Liga Națională team. Founded in 1947, in Cluj-Napoca, the club won not less than 14 Romanian Leagues, between 1953 and 1993. In the 80's they won the league in almost every year except 1980 and 1983 when the league was won by 2 teams from Bucharest, Politehnica and Voința. After 13 years of domination U Cluj entered in a regress period and have not won any trophy from 1993, but still remain the team with the most Leagues won in Romanian women's basketball. [2] [3]

The Liga Națională, formerly known as Divizia A, is the women's top-tier professional basketball league of Romania. Established in 1950, it is currently contested by eleven teams. Universitatea Cluj is the Liga Națională's most successful club with fourteen titles including a ten-years winning streak between 1984 and 1994, while CSM Târgoviște and ICIM Arad have dominated the championship in subsequent years with ten and eight titles respectively.
