George Leslie Goebel was an American humorist, actor, and comedian. He was best known as the star of his own weekly comedy variety television series, The George Gobel Show, on NBC from 1954 to 1959 and on CBS from 1959 to 1960. He was also a familiar panelist on the NBC game show Hollywood Squares.

The Lawrence Welk Show is an American televised musical variety show hosted by big band leader Lawrence Welk. The series aired locally in Los Angeles for four years, from 1951 to 1955, then nationally for another 16 years on ABC from 1955 to 1971, followed by 11 years in first-run syndication from 1971 to 1982. Repeat episodes are broadcast in the United States by Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations. These airings incorporate an original program—usually, a color broadcast from 1965 to 1982—in its entirety. In place of the commercials, newer performance and interview clips from the original stars and/or a family member of the performers are included; these clips are occasionally updated.
The Red Skelton Show is an American television comedy/variety show that aired from 1951 to 1971. In the decade prior to hosting the show, Richard "Red" Skelton had a successful career as a radio and motion pictures star. Although his television series is largely associated with CBS, where it appeared for more than sixteen years, it actually began and ended on NBC. During its run, the program received three Emmy Awards, for Skelton as best comedian and the program as best comedy show during its initial season, and an award for comedy writing in 1961. In 1959 Skelton also received a Golden Globe for Best TV Show.
Sally Ann Howes was an English actress and singer. Her career on screen, stage and television spanned six decades. She is best known for the role of Truly Scrumptious in the 1968 musical film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. In 1963, she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her performance in Brigadoon.
The Garry Moore Show is the name for several separate American variety series on the CBS television network in the 1950s and 1960s. Hosted by experienced radio performer Garry Moore, the series helped launch the careers of many comedic talents, such as Dorothy Loudon, Don Adams, George Gobel, Carol Burnett, Don Knotts, Lee Goodman, James Kirkwood, Jr., Lily Tomlin, and Jonathan Winters. Lulu Pinkus is an Australian screenwriter, producer, stage, film and television actress. She made appearances on numerous television crime and police dramas during the 1970s and early 80s, including a nine episode stint on Prisoner, as well as supporting roles in a number of feature films. She was also the wife of Yahoo Serious and has been involved in producing all of his films: Young Einstein, Reckless Kelly and Mr. Accident. Pinkus is also an accomplished artist having been featured in several art exhibitions.
Club Seven is an early United States television series, which aired from 12 August 1948 to 1951 on ABC. Some episodes were 30 minutes, while others were 15 minutes.
The Lorrae Desmond Show was an early black and white, Australian television music and variety show, produced by James Upshaw which aired from 1960 to 1964 on the ABC hosted by singer and entertainer Lorrae Desmond, later best known for her role as Shirley Gilroy in soap opera/serial A Country Practice, who won the Gold Logie for the program. The Lorrae Desmond Show was a similar to The Dinah Shore Show in the US, with emphasis on live performances and dance numbers. The final episode aired on 27 April 1964. Hal Lashwood's Alabama Jubilee was an Australian television variety series hosted by Hal Lashwood which aired from 1958 to 1961 on ABC Television. It was essentially a minstrel show, with some of the performers appearing in blackface makeup. In 1960, it was retitled Hal Lashwood's Minstrels.
TV Disc Jockey was an early Australian television music program which is notable as it later evolved to become the Australian version of Bandstand. It aired on the Nine Network's TCN-9 from June 1957 to February 1958. The series originally consisted of host John Godson playing records, later a live band joined and then the series began to accompany the records by inviting young people into the studio to dance to the music. In 1958 it changed its title to Accent on Youth.

Old-Time Ballroom was an Australian television variety series which aired on Melbourne station ABV-2 and Sydney station ABN-2 on Saturdays. It originally aired for a four-episode series in September 1959. The program aired an additional series starting December 1959, which ran through to January 1960. It may however have had an additional series in 1961 or later years of the early 1960s.
Sydney Tonight was an Australian television variety series which aired from December 1956 to early 1959 on Sydney station ATN-7. Originally compered by Keith Walshe, it was later hosted by Roy Hampson and re-titled Tonight. The series featured a format including guests, interviews, audience participation, and music. Like In Melbourne Tonight, which came later, it was patterned on the groundbreaking U.S. series Tonight Starring Steve Allen.

Floorshow is an Australian television series which aired in 1963 on ABC. It was a variety series set in a fictional night-club, hosted by Joe Martin, and also featuring Enzo Toppano and his sextet. Acts included singers, dancers, musicians and such.
Curtain Call is an Australian variety series which aired in Sydney on ATN-7 during 1960, which featured comedy and music. It was followed-up in 1961 with the popular Revue '61.
