The Dillinger Escape Plan was an American metalcore band formed in Morris Plains, New Jersey, in 1997. Developed from an earlier, defunct project called Arcane, the band originally consisted of bassist Adam Doll, lead singer Dimitri Minakakis, drummer Chris Pennie and guitarist Ben Weinman. During the course of their existence, they underwent various line-up changes; by the time the band ended, the only remaining member from the group's inception was Weinman. The band's final lineup consisted of Weinman, bassist Liam Wilson, vocalist Greg Puciato, drummer Billy Rymer, and rhythm guitarist Kevin Antreassian.
Miss Machine is the second studio album by American mathcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan released in July 2004 through Relapse Records. It is the first release by the band to feature vocalist Greg Puciato and bassist Liam Wilson. Miss Machine marks a change to a more experimental style by the band.

Recorded at Trax East Recording Studio in South River, New Jersey, it was produced by engineer Steve Evetts with the band's guitarist Ben Weinman and drummer Chris Pennie, and released on September 28, 1999 by Relapse Records. The album is the band's only full-length album to feature original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, who left the band in 2001.

Under the Running Board is an EP by American metalcore band the Dillinger Escape Plan, released on October 22, 1998. The album shows a more experimental side, which would later be more developed on Calculating Infinity. This is also the band's first release on Relapse Records. The song "Abe the Cop" would later be performed and recorded on their self-titled EP's re-release in 2000.
Error was a digital hardcore band founded in 2003 by 12 Rounds member and Nine Inch Nails collaborator Atticus Ross, and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. Since the 2004 release of their self-titled EP, the project has been on an indefinite hold.

Shortly before the recording of the band's first full-length album, Calculating Infinity, Doll was paralyzed from the armpits down in a car accident, and also lost nearly all of his hand dexterity. He was replaced by Liam Wilson. In spite of this, he would go on to write for and contribute keyboards and samples to the band's Irony is a Dead Scene EP featuring Mike Patton in 2002.
