Cain Cressall is an Australian musician and vocal coach known for his work in extreme metal. [1] He was the lead vocalist of industrial death metal band The Amenta and has been involved with several other metal bands throughout his career. [2] [3]
Cressall first joined The Amenta in 2009 [4] and was featured on the band's releases until their hiatus in 2013. The band resumed activity in 2020, with Cressall returning as the frontman. In 2021, The Amenta performed their first live show in eight years at the Australian music festival Dark Mofo. [5]
Before his involvement with The Amenta, Cressall was the vocalist for Perth-based blackened thrash / death metal band, Malignant Monster (2005-2017). [6] He has also contributed guest vocals to recordings by bands such as Aborym, [7] Ouroboros, Mhorgl, Sensory Amusia, Pathogen and Zornheym.
Cressall appears on The Amenta's album Revelator, [8] which received extensive international acclaim from music critics. Journalist Dom Lawson of Metal Hammer described the album as blending elements of black metal, cybergrind, industrial, and gothic doom. Additionally, musician and commentator Lochlan Watt has praised Cressall's vocal technique and control. [9] After the release of Plague of Locus in 2023, [10] [11] Cressall announced his resignation from the band, agreeing to perform two final Australian tours that year.
Cressall resides in his hometown of Perth, Western Australia, as a freelance recording artist.
