Caleb James Lawrence (born 26 May 1941 [1] ) is a Canadian retired Anglican bishop. [2]
Lawrence was educated at Dalhousie University and ordained in 1965. [3] He was a missionary at Great Whale River from 1965 until 1975 then Archdeacon of Arctic Quebec. In January 1980 he became the coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Moosonee and in November of that year the diocesan bishop. [4] He was the diocesan bishop for 30 years and from 2004 to 2009 he was also the Metropolitan of Ontario.
Moosonee is a town in northern Ontario, Canada, on the Moose River approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) south of James Bay. It is considered to be "the Gateway to the Arctic" and has Ontario's only saltwater port. Nearby on Moose Factory Island is the community of Moose Factory to which it is connected by water taxi in the summer and ice road in the winter.
The Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario is one of four ecclesiastical provinces in the Anglican Church of Canada. It was established in 1912 out of six dioceses of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada located in the civil province of Ontario, and the Diocese of Moosonee from the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land.

She had served as Bishop of Algoma from February 2017 until becoming its archbishop upon election as 19th Metropolitan of Ontario.
